God of War 2018 Sequel Pushed to 2022, Will Also Launch on PS4

The last sequel of God of War was launched back in 2018 and now all the eyes are up for the launch of the next alleged God of War: Ragnarok. But it seems that the gaming enthusiasts have to wait for one more year as the PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst confirmed that the launch of the upcoming God of War is pushed to 2022. In the official blog post, Hulst revealed some important information which you should know if you’re a crazy fan of God of War. Let’s have a closer look at the latest news.

God of War Launch Delayed

In an interview with the PlayStation blog, Hermen Hulst head of PlayStation Studio suggests that the Monica Studio is facing difficulties and is restricted to access performance capture and talent. According to him, the biggest challenge is when the team needs a physical location to achieve tasks like performance capture, audio work and others. To overcome this the company has made some tiny studios in employee’s houses.

“For God of War, the project started a little later. So we’ve made the decision to push that game out to next year, to ensure that Santa Monica Studio can deliver the amazing God of War game that we all want to play,” Hulst told the PlayStation Blog.

Earlier, it was reported that the upcoming sequel of God of War will be exclusive for PS5, but it seems Hulst confirmed that the game will also make its way to the PS4 console. This makes sense because the PS5 stocks are very limited and the majority of gaming enthusiasts are still left with their PS4 console. A region like India is facing the worst PS5 restock scenario so we should appreciate the decision of launching the game title on PS4 as well.

Further Hulst suggests that the two big narrative-driven games the Horizon Forbidden West and the next God of War are under development. According to him both of the game titles are affected by access to performance capture and talent. The studio is planning to launch the Horizon this holiday season but that’s quite uncertain now. Hulst suggests that he will confirm the release date as soon as the game is ready to go.
