LG V40 ThinQ Teaser Comes Out Showing Design and Triple Rear Camera Setup Ahead of October 3 Launch

LG is all geared up to launch its new high-end smartphone, LG ThinQ V40 on October 3 in New York. The device probably will feature a 6.5 inch screen and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor and will likely run on Android 8.1 Oreo. Ahead of the launch, the company has launched an official taser revealing some interesting details about the device.

One thing that the teaser confirms is the presence of three cameras at the back along with two on the front. The smartphone was speculated to feature this set up after the tipster Evan Bass took the press renders to Twitter, unveiling the 5 camera module for the first time. In the teaser, the three cameras are horizontally aligned along with an LED flash placed at the same line. At the bottom of the setup, there is a fingerprint sensor. On the front, there are two cameras for selfies and video calling needs.

The LG V40 ThinQ recently appeared on the Geekbecnh listing, confirming some of the major specifications. Going by the model number LGE LM-V405, the listing confirms that the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor, clocked at a 1.77GHz base frequency. The listing further confirmed the device will run on Android 8.1 Oreo and will feature 6GB RAM. The prototype of the device has a single-core score of 2397 and a multi-core score of 8045, which is quite impressive.

Apart from the Geekbench listing and the official teaser, the LG V40 ThinQ has managed to get in the radar of many leaksters. Back in May, LG also confirmed that the V40 ThinQ will sport an OLED screen.

The smartphone is expected to feature a large 6.5 inches will have QHD+ resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The smartphone will feature noticeable bezels but smaller in size along with a tiny notch at the top. As confirmed in the teaser, the smartphone comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The other options for authentication will include a Voice Unlock as well as Face Unlock feature.

Under the hood, there is a powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM and combined with Adreno 630 GPU. As per previous reports, the 6GB RAM will be paired with 128GB onboard storage.

In the imaging department, the primary sensor at the rear will be a 12MP unit with a f/1.5 aperture and 1.4um pixel size. The secondary 16MP sensor will have 1.0um pixel size and an aperture of  f/1.9. The last sensor will again be a 12MP unit with 1.0um pixel size and a f/2.4 aperture. The triple-camera setup at the back of the device will feature functionalities like 2x zoom and “Smart functionality”. On the front, the V40 ThinQ will feature a dual-camera setup with an 8MP and a 5MP camera unit.

The device could be fuelled by a 3300mAh battery. The LG V40 ThinQ reportedly measures 158.7×75.8×7.79mm and weighs in at 169 grams. It device could come with room for Android 9.0 Pie update. The LG V40 ThinQ will also come with an IP68 certification for resistance against dust and water.

The company sent out media invites on September 13 for an event on October 3 in New York. The device will be unveiled at the event and as per the recently leaked press renders, the device will be going on sale on November 16 in the US. We are expecting the smartphone to arrive in India before the end of the year. Since it is a high-end smartphone, we are expecting a hefty price tag.
