OnePlus 6 Celebrates Spectacular Sales Victory With Cashback, Exchange and EMI Offers

The underdog has proved to be true to its motto — OnePlus is officially the flagship killer in India now, with a spectacular sales victory that made Counterpoint Research announce the Chinese brand to be India’s new number one premium smartphone seller. In a OnePlus forum post, OnePlus CEO and founder Pete Lau thanked the Indian buyer for trusting the brand, and said, “We’re just getting started”.

OnePlus 6: Offers, Price in India

As part of their celebrations, OnePlus will make it easier for the Indian buyer to purchase the OnePlus 6, the latest and now the most popular OnePlus handset. Offers begin today, with Rs 1,500 cashback on ICICI Bank credit card, but only via EMI mode. There is also a No Cost EMI offer where you can pay for the phone over 6 months at no extra cost, using any major credit card, and buying the phone from Amazon.in. From August 3, buyers can avail Rs 1,500 over-and-above the exchange value of their old smartphone, on Amazon.

The OnePlus 6 comes in four colours: Red, Silk White, Mirror Black, and Midnight Black. Storage options are 6GB RAM plus 64GB ROM, costing Rs 34,999, 8GB RAM plus 128GB ROM, selling at Rs 39,999, and an out-of-stock 256GB internal storage model with the same 8GB RAM to be sold at Rs 43,999.

On Amazon, there are additional offers that have been in place from a while now, such as Rs 2,000 cashback on using Idea 4G prepaid in the new handset, and up to Rs 500 discount on the first Kindle ebook.

OnePlus 6: Sales Propel Brand to the Top

OnePlus began as a daring challenger and took only a few years to morph into the winner, leading the premium smartphone market here in India in the whole of the last quarter, April to June, 2018. Counterpoint Market Monitor Service Data reported that the Shenzhen-based company has captured a stunning 40 per cent of the premium smartphone market in India, elbowing out Samsung, which had long held the top spot even as it faced heat from the other Chinese disruptor called Xiaomi in overall sales. Now, though, OnePlus is officially the leader of the premium or high-end smartphone market in India, with a 40 per cent share of the market in its pockets, and Samsung had to settle for the second position, with a 33 per cent share. Apple comes in at the third position, but its share is significantly low, at only 14 per cent of the premium smartphone market in India, perhaps due to pricing that most people find outrageous.

OnePlus, the experimental subsidiary of Oppo, has its latest model OnePlus 6 to thank for the exceptional and admirable sales victory this quarter. OnePlus officials in Bengaluru said OnePlus 6 was the best-selling model in the premium segment this quarter, even as it launched in May. Globally, too, OnePlus was found to be the fastest growing smartphone brand, growing annually at 284 per cent.

OnePlus 6: Brand Chief Thanks India

Pete Lau, the founder and CEO of the Shenzen-based brand OnePlus, captured his thoughts on the Indian market in a OnePlus forum post, reminiscing about not launching the first OnePlus phone in India fearing the risk of losses. “As humans, we are quick to judge, but you cannot do that with a country like India. India is today a community that is our eye to the globe, a soundboard for experimentation through which we understand the pulse of the customer at a global level,” he said.

Pete Lau went on to thank the Indian tech enthusiasts and OnePlus fans, as also OnePlus partners in India, particularly Amazon, Qualcomm and Croma. He also confirmed that the brand will continue to invest heavily in the country. “India is our benchmark for creating successful global products. This young market is now set to become our second home ground, a centre for product innovation. Our new R&D centre in India is just the beginning,” he said.
