Samsung’s first foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Fold was announced back in February this year, alongside the company’s Galaxy S10 series. Even though more than four months have passed since its official unveiling, the Galaxy Fold is yet to go on sale. While it was originally expected to go on sale in select markets by the end of April, Samsung had to delay its launch after several tech reviewers encountered issues with the foldable display panel. Thanks to new information that we have received from leakster Ishan Agarwal, we can now confirm that Samsung has started manufacturing the phone in India and is likely to formally launch it in the country very soon.
Samsung Galaxy Fold Manufacturing Begins in India
Samsung has begun manufacturing the Galaxy Fold in India, which suggests the foldable smartphone may go on sale in the country soon after it goes on sale in major markets such as the US. The global launch is expected to happen sometime before the end of July, according to the information we have obtained. Even though Samsung hasn’t confirmed any new launch date yet, a top executive recently confirmed that the issues with the display have been fixed and that the Galaxy Fold is “ready to hit the market.”
The Galaxy Fold has a 7.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED main display with 1536 x 2152 pixels resolution and HDR10+ support. On the other hand, the cover display on the device measures 4.6-inches and happens to be a Super AMOLED panel with 720 x 1680 pixels resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio. Unlike Samsung’s Galaxy S10 series, all variants of the Galaxy Fold will have Qualcomm’s 7nm Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor inside, coupled with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. In terms of optics, the Galaxy Fold has a 12MP + 12MP + 16MP triple-camera setup at the rear and a 10MP + 8MP dual-camera setup on the front. An additional 10MP selfie camera is found on the front cover.
