Samsung Galaxy A80 Listed on Official Website Ahead of Launch in India: Specs, Expected Price

Back in April, Samsung revealed that it will launch the Galaxy A80 in India in May. However, it is June, and there is still no sign from Samsung regarding the Galaxy A80’s India launch. Well, that was until today. Samsung has now listed the Galaxy A80 on its Indian website. This strongly suggests that the Galaxy A80 will launch in India soon.

A recent report from SamMobile claimed that Samsung will launch the Galaxy A80 in India on the 8th of June, and the brand will hold events in five Indian cities on 8th and 9th June (Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Kolkata), where it will let people get their hands on the Galaxy A80. Well, now that Samsung has listed the Galaxy A80 on its India website, what SamMobile claims might just be true. The Galaxy A80 might indeed launch in India on 8th June.

To recall, the Galaxy A80 made its debut alongside the Galaxy A70, and Galaxy A40 on 10th April. The Galaxy A80 is the range-topping smartphone from Samsung in its A-series. On paper at least, the Galaxy A80 has decent hardware. Speaking of hardware, let us quickly have a look at what the Galaxy A80 has to offer, and also its expected price in India.

Samsung Galaxy A80 Expected Price in India

Samsung has already revealed that it will price the Galaxy A80 between INR 45,000 and INR 50,000 in India. That’s a pretty narrow price bracket. And I think there’s no need for guessing any further.

With a price between INR 45,000 to INR 50,000, the Galaxy A80 will compete directly with the OnePlus 7 Pro, Oppo Reno 10X Zoom, and the upcoming Asus Zenfone 6. In my opinion, the Galaxy A80 stands no chance when compared to the OnePlus 7 Pro, Oppo Reno 10X Zoom, and the Zenfone 6. The other three smartphones beat the Galaxy A80 in almost every aspect, and that too by a huge margin. The Galaxy A80 might stand a chance if Samsung prices it under INR 30,000.

Samsung Galaxy A80 Specifications

Let’s start with the most interesting feature of the Galaxy A80, and that is its design. The Galaxy A80 features a sliding plus rotating camera module as you can see in the feature image. This camera module acts as the front, as well as, rear camera. By default, the camera module will rest facing rearwards, and when you turn on the selfie mode, the camera turns towards the front. This camera module has three camera sensors – a 48MP camera with a conventional FoV, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 3D ToF camera to collect depth information.

And why did Samsung put a sliding, rotating camera? Well, obviously to offer a bezel-less and notch-less display. The display itself is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED unit with Full HD+ resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Speaking of the display, the Galaxy A80 has an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Moving on to the performance, the Galaxy A80 packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor. Internationally, the Galaxy A80 is available in only one configuration – 8GB RAM + 128GB storage. You can expect the same to launch in India. On the software side of things, the Galaxy A80 comes with Android 9 Pie operating system featuring One UI customization. The Galaxy A80 a 3700mAh battery, and it supports 25W fast charging.
