Best 5G Smartphones Under Rs. 25000 In India – Mi 10i, Narzo 30 Pro and More

This year is supposed to bring about the real 5G revolution in smartphones. Analysts say 2021 will see more affordable 5G smartphones than ever before, even though 5G networks in countries like India won’t be ready before at least mid-2022. While that may be true, you can’t discount the fact that 2021 had some great 5G smartphones, that strike the right balance between features, specs and pricing. The best 5G smartphones today are not only affordable, they will also last you long enough to justify their price.

Best 5G Smartphones Under Rs 25,000 in India

  • Xiaomi Mi 10i
  • OnePlus Nord
  • Realme X7
  • Moto G 5G
  • Realme Narzo 30 Pro

Xiaomi Mi 10i

Price: Rs. 20,999 onwards

Where to buy: Mi.com, Amazon

Pros Cons
Great design Bloatware
Good battery life Battery efficiency not great
dependable performance still on Android 10
120Hz screen refresh rate

In Xiaomi’s arsenal, the ‘Mi’ moniker represents a flagship-class device. The company, though, has spun-off the name into a whole new brand over the past year or so, making cheaper phones under the Mi brand as well. As a result, phones like the Xiaomi Mi 10i are cheaper versions of a flagship class phones, meaning they strike a great balance between pricing and specifications.

For under Rs. 25000, you get a very high screen refresh rate, the Snapdragon 750G gaming focused chipset and four cameras on the back, one of which has 108MP resolution.

OnePlus Nord

Price: Rs. 24,999

Where to buy: Amazon

Pros Cons
HDR display Disappointing cameras
dependable battery life
battery life just about lasts one work day
fast UI
120Hz screen refresh rate

OnePlus tried to remain a one-device company for a long time, but it just can’t make ends meet that way. Phones like the OnePlus Nord are important for the company, and they bring some of the flagship level features to more affordable price ranges. For instance, the OnePlus Nord’s display supports HDR playback and the company’s trademark fast user interface. What it doesn’t have though, are flagship level cameras, which some may be ok with at a sub-25000 price point.

Realme X7

Price: Rs. 19999

Where to buy: Realme.com, Flipkart

Pros Cons
120Hz AMOLED display Android 10 out of the box
Decent performance Disappointing camera
65W fast charging
120Hz screen refresh rate

Four cameras on the back, 120Hz refresh rate on an AMOLED display panel and 65W fast charging make this a workhorse of a phone. It runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000 processor, which is no small fry, especially when you consider the price. You can also put two 5G capable SIM cards on this phone at the same time, something that’s not very common at this point. The Realme X7 may be affordably priced, but that “Fantasy” colour makes it look anything but.

Moto G 5G

Price: Rs. 20,999

Where to buy: Flipkart

Pros Cons
Excellent battery life No fast charging
dependable camera performance Not the fastest phone out there
large display expensive for what it offers

When you think back to smartphone ranges that have a legacy, the Moto G comes to mind. Arguably the series that started the budget revolution in India, the Moto G 5G doesn’t provide the same value that the original Moto G did, but it’s still worth considering. It’s meant for people who can’t get past the brand name and perhaps don’t want to buy phones from Chinese brands.

Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G

Price: Rs. 17,999 (expected)

Where to buy: Realme.com, Flipkart

Pros Cons
Dependable performance Only three cameras
gobs of RAM and storage
30W fast charging

Running on MediaTek’s Dimensity 800U processor, the Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G is amongst the cheapest 5G capable smartphones in India at the moment. It’s hard to doubt a phone that’s priced in this segment and has not only 8GB of RAM, but also 128GB storage. The 120Hz FHD+ with display is no slouch either. Of course, the phone is yet to launch, so you may want to wait a few days before buying it.

Flashbacks: the phones that revolutionized mobile cameras, part 1

Over the past few years we've watched smartphone chipsets go from having a lonely CPU core to having ten. Display resolutions broke the HD barrier and currently top out at 4K. But progress has slowed down on both the chipset and display fronts. High refresh rate displays made things exciting again for a while, but that excitement is dying down too. Cameras, however, seem to keep getting better and better (and more numerous). And more often than not they are the reason to upgrade before your old phone is on its last legs. A Snapdragon 855 may be a couple of years old at this point, but it's...

Weekly poll: are the three Redmi K40 phones the kings of their price segments or not?

Xiaomi unveiled three Redmi K40 phones earlier this week. Or did it? If you look at just the screen and camera, there’s only one phone. If you look at the chipset, there are two phones. And if you look at the cameras, there are three phones. That may sound like a magic trick, but a quick run through the specs should clear things up. Redmi K40 series highlight features and differences in infographic form All three K40 phones use the same 6.67” Super AMOLED display (an E4 panel). Carl Pei’s Nothing Kickstarts Community Funding Program On March 2

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei’s new company, Nothing, will begin its community funding project from Tuesday, March 2. “Our community funding round will go live next Tuesday morning GMT. With over $33M of registered interest from more than 22 000 people, we advise everyone to be on the lookout for our early access email as the $1.5M allocation will be available on a first-come, first-served basis,” the company wrote in a post on Instagram. The company had announced the community funding program on February 16, saying it would be allocating shares worth $1.5 million to its users on a first-come-first served basis.

“We want you to create that future together with us. Not just cheering from the sidelines, but front and centre from the very start. That’s why we’re inviting you to invest through this community funding round and become a shareholder of Nothing at the same price as our first institutional round of financing, Series A, led by GV (formerly known as Google Ventures). $1.5 million worth of shares will be available to you on a first-come, first-serve basis,” the company said on its website at the time.

Nothing’s community funding program is typical of the fan-driven approach Carl Pei’s last company, OnePlus, had taken in its initial days, though that never included having users buy shares in OnePlus. The public can usually invest in a company only when it goes public and does an initial public offering (IPO). With this though, the company is essentially crowdfunding a part of its coffers, and allowing its own community to benefit from a possible IPO sometime in future.

Further, submissions for this program were available through the company’s website, where users were asked to submit their emails. Nothing will be sending a notification to the user a few minutes before the program goes live. The program actually runs on crowdfunding website Crowdcube, and users were required to create an account on that site, and add their credit or debit cards to buy shares.

Nothing’s first products are expected soon, and the company is expected to take an ecosystem approach. It bought Android founder Andy Rubin’s Essential recently, a company that had built its own operating system for smart products and was expected to launch multiple smart devices that work with each other. Pei had earlier said that the company’s first products will be wireless earbuds.

Weekly poll results: the Samsung Galaxy F62 could be a hit, if its price drops

The Samsung Galaxy F62 became available in India on Monday, then a few days later it became clear that the model will go global under the M62 name. Samsung Thailand even listed all the official specs for the M-series variation (unsurprisingly, it’s a carbon copy). We don’t know the worldwide pricing, but in India the F62 starts at INR 24,000 ($330/€270). Which, judging by last week’s poll, is a bit too high for comfort – most voters like the phone, but they think it’s a bit too pricey. Some forward-looking individuals pointed out that the resale value of a 4G phone will be lower than that...

Samsung Galaxy A02s in for review

Say hello to the Samsung Galaxy A02s, an entry level phone that aims to deliver a decent smartphone experience at a €150 price point. The Galaxy A20s is well made and feels good in the hand. It comes with a cable and a 15W charger, which is more than you get with a Galaxy S21-series phone these days. We do regret the omission of a case, but at these prices it's no surprise. The back of the phone has a stylish prism finish, which captures the light and reflects in different shades. It's also textured, which lends the phone a comfortable grip. The Galaxy A02s also has all the...
