Moto G Watch, Moto Watch With Square Dial Leaked; Rumoured To Launch in June and July 2021, Respectively

American smartphone maker Motorola might be working on a whole new smartwatch for its customers. According to a new tweet, the company is working on a new Moto Watch with a square dial, which looks strikingly similar to the Apple Watch. There’s also a Moto One smartwatch that resembles the Moto 360, one of the first smartwatches to ever hit the wearables market. The company had first launched the Moto 360 smartwatch back in 2015 and brought it to India later, but hasn’t done much in the wearables space since then. That might be set to change soon.

The information comes from a brand licensee for Motorola, named eButNow. Felipe Berhau, who found the information, said in a separate tweet that the watches won’t be “made by Motorola” per se and will most likely be how Flipkart makes Motorola TVs in India.

It's not a leak really. It's from a sales presentation by Motorola brand licensee eBuyNow that makes the smartwatches from now on (they are not ''made'' by Motorola, the same way Flipkart makes Motorola TVs in India and others sell other Motorola products globally)

Moto G Watch and Moto Watch coming soon

The leak doesn’t really clarify much about the specifications of these upcoming devices, but the one with the square dial seems to have been named the Moto Watch. The other smartwatch, with a round dial, is likely going to be called the Moto G Watch. The exact launch dates for these wearables are also unclear at this moment, but the tweet says they’re likely to launch in June and July 2021, respectively.

Further, given the ‘Moto G’ moniker on the watch with the round dial, we could assume a slightly cheaper price for this one. The Moto G brand name is usually reserved for the company’s more affordable smartphones. In fact, we could also guess some of the specs based on the watches it will compete with.

For instance, the Mi Watch Revolve from Xiaomi, which also has a round dial and is priced at Rs. 9999 in India, supports up to 5ATM water resistance. It also has a round AMOLED display and uses algorithms for Firstbeat for various fitness tracking features. For the uninitiated, Firstbeat is the company that provides algorithms for fitness wearable maker Garmin, and was bought over by that company.

Given Motorola’s history with Android, the Moto G Watch and the Moto Watch will both likely run on Google’s WearOS operating system. The devices should also sport heart rate trackers and GPS sensors.

While the square dial smartwatch may be a tad more expensive than the Moto G Watch, although there are cheaper square dial smartwatches too. The Oppo Watch, for instance, is priced at under Rs. 15000 in India, while there’s a Redmi smartwatch from Xiaomi expected soon.
