Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G with Ultra-Wideband Support Gets FCC Certification, Launch Seems Imminent

Samsung is likely to launch two new foldable smartphones later this year. According to rumours, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 will launch in August 2021. A recent report claimed that Samsung will announce its next set of foldable smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event on August 3. The company is yet to make an official announcement on the same. Details of the two foldable devices have leaked multiple times in the past. Meanwhile, the Samsung Z Fold 3 has visited the FCC website ahead of the launch. Let’s take a look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 specifications, features, and other details leaked ahead of the launch.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 FCC listing

Samsung is gearing up for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 launch. Ahead of the official unveiling, the device has visited the FCC website. It has the model number SM-F926U. The FCC listing of the Z Fold 3 reveals the various connectivity options and bands that the device will support. The images also confirm that the foldable device will come with ultra-wideband (UWB) support. For the uninitiated, UWB is a short-range wireless communication protocol that determines the location of other UWB devices accurately to transfer data at a much higher frequency while consuming less power. Following the FCC listing, we can expect an imminent launch of the upcoming Samsung smartphone.

Details around the expected pricing and specs have leaked previously. According to a recent report, the Z Fold 3 is likely to launch at 1.9 million South Korean won, which is roughly USD 1,670. It will launch at a 20 per cent lesser price tag compared to the Z Fold 2.

Samsung’s new foldable smartphone will feature a triple-camera setup on the back. Previous reports suggest that the phone will have a 12MP + 12MP + 16MP camera sensor setup. It is also likely to launch with an under-display camera (UDC). Samsung might ditch using UDC due to logistical issues. If the company decides to go ahead with UDC, the Fold 3 will come with a 16MP front camera on the main display. It will also have a 12MP front camera on the cover display. It is also likely to feature S Pen support, which will be a hybrid between the S Pen found on the S21 Ultra and the Note 20 series.

The foldable smartphone could come with a 4,275 mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. Click here to check our coverage on the Z Fold 3.
