Sony Xperia L3 With Dual Rear Camera, 5.7-inch Display Revealed in 360-degree Video, CAD Renders

The successor to Sony’s mid-ranger Xperia L2 has been spotted in a new 360-degree video and CAD renders, and it is expected to be called the Xperia L3. At first glance, you can see that the handset features a dual rear camera as opposed to the single rear camera on the Xperia L2, but there are other changes too. The Xperia L2 was unveiled in January this year, and the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The handset came with Android Nougat and some decent mid-range features, such as Type-C USB and a 120-degree wide angle lens for the front camera. We expect the succeeding model to offer more. Read on to find out what all this new leak has revealed about the upcoming Sony Xperia L3.

Sony Xperia L3: New Video Shows Design, Display

The new Xperia L3 has a taller 5.7-inch display as compared to the 5.5-inch display on the Xperia L2. The handset, however, has not fallen for the notch trend, and keeps bezels on the top as well as the bottom, with Sony badging on the bottom and rear side of the handset. The aspect ratio, however, seems to be 18:9, as the top bezel is not so thick and the display is taller than the one on the outgoing model.

The body looks like a polycarbonate unit and with a mirror finish on the back panel, but the most interesting thing to note is that the fingerprint sensor has moved from the rear panel to the side. It is tucked between the power button and the volume buttons on the right side of the Xperia L3 handset.

As mentioned earlier, the most prominent change is the dual rear camera, which will certainly help its cause.

Sony Xperia L3: Specifications

The upcoming Xperia L3 can be expected to feature a 5.7-inch HD+ or FHD display in the 18:9 aspect ratio. The handset is 9mm thick and has rounded edges, with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and full bezels. There is a 3.5mm audio port and a Type-C USB port. While we know that there is a dual rear camera on this device, the exact specs are not yet leaked.

The Xperia L2 was appreciated for its 8MP front camera, and we expect this handset to come with a similar or better front camera. The outgoing model is powered by a quad-core Mediatek chipset but the new mid-ranger could see an octa-core Snapdragon processor as they are gaining popularity. You can also expect a battery size of 3300mAh or larger.

Sony Xperia L3: Launch Date, Price in India

The launch date of the Sony Xperia L3 is expected to be in January at the 2019 CES. It could take a few weeks then for the device to reach India, and might be priced a bit above the Rs. 20,000 mark. The Maximum Retail Price of the Sony Xperia L2 is still about Rs. 20,000, although, some retailers are dishing it out for as low as Rs. 10,994.

While the Sony Xperia L2 offered some good features, the successor to this model would, however, need to be much better, as the competition in the mid-range segment of smartphones, at least in India, is only getting tougher by the day. With several Chinese offerings blurring the line between mid-range and premium smartphone features, buyers have come to expect a whole lot of excellent specs and features from phones that cost above Rs. 15,000. So, is Sony up to the task? We will find out.
