ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 Titanium Edition Launched, Gets AI Scene Detection via New Update

ASUS has launched a new color variant of the Zenfone Max Pro M2 in India. Apart from Blue, the mid-range smartphone is now also available in the Titanium color trim, and ASUS is calling it the Zenfone Max Pro M2 Titanium Edition. Quite a mouthful name, isn’t it?

The new color variant of the Zenfone Max Pro M2 looks closer to dark gold, at least to my untrained eyes. The new color variant is now available for sale through Flipkart and there’s no extra cost associated with it if you want to choose this unique color. To make the deal even sweeter, the Taiwanese company has also released a new software update that brings AI Scene Detection and the latest security patch.

ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 Titanium Edition Price, First Sale

The ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 Titanium Edition is priced at INR 12,999 for the 32GB storage variant, while the 64GB storage variant is priced at INR 14,999. This pricing is similar to the pricing of other color variants of the smartphone. The Titanium Edition is available for purchase starting 30 January 2019 through Flipkart.

ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 Gets AI Scene Detection, January 2019 Security Patch

The ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 hasn’t received the Android 9 Pie update yet, but the company has released a new over-the-air (OTA) software update that brings AI Scene Detection to the phone.

This new feature can scan for objects and subjects in the scene automatically and apply the best possible camera settings for a better picture. The AI Scene Detection feature can recognize up to 13 scenes, including cats, dogs, food, weather, and much more. The company has also included the January 2019 Android security patch and battery optimizations in the update to make the phone even stronger.

ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 Features, Specs

The ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 is an excellent mid-range smartphone and it competes with the likes of the Honor 8X, Motorola One Power, Realme 2 Pro, Xiaomi Mi A2, and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro. The Zenfone Max Pro M2 features a metal-and-plastic body with Gorilla Glass 6 protection for its notched screen. It has a 6.26-inch IPS LCD screen with Full HD+ resolution, a conventional notch and 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with a near-stock user interface.

The Zenfone Max Pro M2 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, 3GB/4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot for storage expansion (by up to an additional 2TB). There’s a 12MP+5MP dual-camera setup at the phone’s rear. The 12MP sensor is 1/2.9-inch in size and has 1.25μm pixels, f/1.8 aperture, phase-detection autofocus, and 4K video recording at 30fps. The 5MP sensor with f/2.4 aperture and 1.12μm pixels is used for depth information that is useful in capturing portrait images with background blur effect. The front-facing camera has a 13MP resolution sensor with f/2.0 aperture, 1.12μm pixels, and 1080p 30fps video recording.

The phone features a dedicated dual-SIM card slot with dual-4G VoLTE. Other connectivity features include A-GPS, FM Radio, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, microUSB v2.0 port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There’s a 5000mAh battery packed inside the Zenfone Max Pro M2 keeps the phone running for two days on a stretch. Unfortunately, the phone lacks rapid charging and is capped at 10W.
