OPPO K1 India Launch Expected in First Week of February, Could be Priced Under Rs.20,000: Report

It was just a day ago that we published an article talking about the possibility of Oppo launching a new mid-range device in India. This device was the Oppo K1 that was first released in the Chinese market back in September 2018. One day later, we have some sort of confirmation that the new device that Oppo has started to tease on Flipkart is indeed the Oppo K1. According to a report by 91 Mobiles, Oppo is reportedly planning to launch the Oppo K1 in the first week of February as a Flipkart exclusive.

Oppo K1: The story so far

The Oppo K1, when launched in India, will be the first K Series device from Oppo to launch here. The company has until now concentrated on the R-Series, F-Series and A-Series phones in India. The Oppo K1 was first launched in Oppo’s home market China back in October 2018. The phone was touted as an affordable device with an in-display fingerprint scanner at the time of its launch in China. When launched in India, the Oppo K1 is likely to be priced around or under the INR 20,000 mark which would definitely make it the most affordable handset with an in-screen fingerprint reader.  Let us now check out the rest of the specifications of the device

Oppo K1: Specifications and Features

The Oppo K1 gets a large 6.4-inch display which is most likely an IPS LCD panel. There are some websites that talk about this being an AMOLED panel. It would be impressive if Oppo does manage to get an AMOLED panel on a sub INR 20K device. The display has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels in the 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

The Oppo K1 will feature the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC that totes an 8-core CPU and uses the Adreno 512 GPU for graphics. In China, the Oppo K1 comes in a 4GB RAM +64GB version and a pricier 6GN RAM + 64GB version with both these version NOT getting a microSD card slot. At this point, it remains unclear whether the India variants would be offered in similar storage options. The handset runs Color OS 5.2 atop an Android 8.1 Oreo core. The phone gets a 3,600 mAh battery that should let it easily offer day-long battery life.

The Oppo K1 gets a dual camera set up at the rear that consists of a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front-facing camera is capable of capturing 25-megapixel images. The camera will also feature several AI modes enabled by the Snapdragon 660 chipset.

Like other smartphones in its price segment, the Oppo K1 is also likely to be a dual SIM device with support for Indian 4G LTE networks with VoLTE support. It is not clear at this time whether dual VoLTE standby is supported. Other connectivity options include support for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS/ A-GPS. For physical connectivity, the phone uses a micro USB port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

As mentioned earlier in this article, we can expect the Oppo K1 to officially come to India in the first week of February.
