Samsung Galaxy M20 and M10 Receive First-Ever Software Update with January Security Patch, Bugs Fixes

Samsung’s latest Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 smartphones debuted in India just a week ago. Now, in the latest development, both the newly launched phones are receiving their first-ever software update. Although both the phones are yet to be available for purchase and will go on sale starting February 5, 2019, via Amazon India. Some of the review units have begun receiving the update that brings improvements and fixes. The update carries firmware version M105FDDU1ASA7 for the Galaxy M10 and firmware version M205FDDU1ASA9 for the Galaxy M20 smartphone.

Latest Updates With Minor Improvements For Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20

The respective updates were first spotted by the folks at SamMobile stating that this is an incremental update geared with improvements and fixes for both the phones. Both the updates are also loaded with January security patch but it was already there in the previous firmware. For the buyers who will purchase either of the phones next month, these updates will most likely be available out-of-the-box. The update for the Galaxy M10 weighs 64.74MB while the Galaxy M20 weighs 102MB. The report also states that the updates do not bring any remarkable improvement in the overall performance of both the devices.

The Samsung Galaxy M20 price in India starts at INR 10,990 for the 3GB RAM+32GB Storage variant and INR 12,990 for the 4GB RAM+64GB Storage variant. The Galaxy M10, on the other hand, costs INR 7,990 for the 2GB RAM+16GB Storage model and INR 8,990 for the 3GB RAM+32GB Storage version. Both the phones come in Charcoal Black and Ocean Blue color options and are exclusively available via Amazon India and Samsung India e-store.

Coming to the specifications, both the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 come with 13MP+5MP dual rear cameras and run Android 8.1 Oreo-based Samsung Experience 9.5 UX out-of-the-box. Under the hood, the Galaxy M10 is powered by an Exynos 7870 SoC while the Galaxy M20 is powered by Exynos 7904 chipset. The front camera specs also differ for both the phone, wherein the M20 feature an 8MP selfie camera and the M10 packs a 5MP front camera.

The Samsung Galaxy M20 comes with a 6.3-inch full-HD+ Infinity-V Display at 1080×2340 pixels resolution, while the M10 settles for a 6.2-inch Infinity-V Display. A massive 5,000mAh battery backs the Galaxy M20 while a 3,400mAh battery completes the Galaxy M10. Another difference lies in the biometrics, the Galaxy M20 supports Face Unlock and also sports a fingerprint sensor on the back while the Galaxy M10 only support Face Unlock and misses out on a fingerprint sensor.

Both the phones are being regarded as Samsung’s re-entry in the budget segment. It would be interesting to see how the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 change the landscape for the South Korean giant in India.
