Nokia 4.2 vs Nokia 3.2 vs Nokia 1 Plus: What’s Different in Price, Specifications, Features

Nokia made it big at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 in Barcelona. The HMD Global-owned brand released Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 4.2, Nokia 3.2, Nokia 1 Plus, and Nokia 210 smartphones at the event. While the Nokia 9 PureView belongs to the flagship segment, the others fall in the budget and mid-range segments. The Nokia 210 is a feature phone supporting 2.5G. The Nokia 4.2, Nokia 3.2, and the Nokia 1 Plus have got their fair share of the limelight too, and in this article, we will be listing the differences in their specs and pricing.

Nokia 4.2 vs Nokia 3.2 vs Nokia 1 Plus: Price in India

Starting with their distinguished prices, the Nokia 4.2 is launched at $169 (approx. INR 12,100), the Nokia 3.2 is priced at $139 (approx INR 10,000), and the Nokia 1 Plus will retail at $99 (roughly INR 7,100). For now, we are not aware of their launch timeline for India, but we can expect HMD Global to bring these devices to the Indian shores soon. As for the pricing, the brand could launch them at lower prices than the one suggested via currency conversion.

Nokia 4.2 vs Nokia 3.2 vs Nokia 1 Plus: Display, Performance

Coming to the display, the Nokia 4.2 comes with a 5.7-inch HD+ waterdrop notch display with 19:9 aspect ratio. The Nokia 3.2, on the other hand, has a larger 6.2-inch HD+ waterdrop notch display with 19:9 aspect ratio. The Nokia 1 Plus settles for a 5.4-inch FWVGA+ IPS LCD screen without a notch and with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It has a polycarbonate build with interchangeable back panels.

Under the hood, the Nokia 4.2 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 439 SoC with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB internal storage. A Snapdragon 429 SoC powers the Nokia 3.2 with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB internal storage. The Nokia 1 Plus is the most affordable and therefore underpowered phone among the three; it is powered by a MediaTek MT6739WW chipset with 1GB of RAM and 8GB/16GB of inbuilt storage. On both Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2, storage is expandable up to 400GB via microSD card.

In the imaging department, the Nokia 4.2 features a 13MP rear camera with a 2MP depth sensor and AI camera modes. It has an 8MP selfie snapper on the front. The Nokia 3.2 packs a 13MP Autofocus rear camera with LED flash, AI-backed camera modes, and a 5MP front camera. Both the Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 3.2 support Face Unlock feature along with a fingerprint sensor. The Nokia 1 Plus has an 8MP rear camera paired with a 5MP fixed-focus selfie shooter on the front. On the software side of things, both the Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 3.2 ship with Android 9 Pie while the Nokia 1 Plus comes with Android Go – Android 9 Pie OS, which is best suited for the entry-level devices.

It’s worth mentioning that HMD Global has claimed that the Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 3.2 will receive updates to Android Q and also to Android R. The manufacturer has always kept up with the update cycles and is always on time with the updates.

Concerning battery and connectivity, the Nokia 4.2 packs a 3,000mAh battery. The Nokia 3.2 has a bigger 4,000mAh battery while the Nokia 1 Plus has a 2,500mAh battery. Connectivity-wise, all three phones support WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/AGPS/GLONASS/BeiDou, and FM radio.

Given their differences, the Nokia 4.2 packs the most solid specs while the Nokia 1 Plus is a basic Android phone with an ultra-affordable price tag. The Nokia 3.2 is a lighter version of the Nokia 4.2 with a bigger screen and battery. Overall, HMD Global has tried to cater to every segment of buyers in the budget range. It would be interesting to see how the company prices them for the Indian market.
