Samsung launched its mid-range Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A80 smartphones at an event held in Thailand in April this year. While the Galaxy A70 (review) made its way to the Indian market soon after its unveiling in Thailand, the Galaxy A80 is yet to be launched in the country. Now, a new report from SamMobile states that the Galaxy A80 is likely to be launched in India as soon as next week.
Samsung Galaxy A80 Preview Events to be Held in Major Indian Cities Next Week
According to SamMobile, Samsung has planned to hold exclusive preview events for the Galaxy A80 in major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Hyderabad on June 8 and 9. Consumers in India will be able to get their hands on the Galaxy A80 at these preview events, ahead of the formal launch. The preview events in Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad are reportedly set to begin at 06:00 PM IST on June 8. In Bangalore and Kolkata, the events will be held on the next day, i.e. June 9. More details regarding the events, including venues are expected to be made public via the Samsung Members app very soon.
As for pricing, the report suggests Samsung Galaxy A80 will be priced somewhere between INR 40,000 and 50,000 in India. This means the Galaxy A80 will be pitted head-on against the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro here. ASUS is also expected to launch its flagship ZenFone 6 in the same price band in India on June 16.
Samsung Galaxy A80 Features 6.7-inch New Infinity Display, Rotating Triple Camera
The Samsung Galaxy A80 is the company’s first smartphone to be equipped with a “New Infinity” notch-less Super AMOLED display. Its 6.7-inch sized panel offers 1080 x 2400 pixels Full HD+ resolution, an In-display fingerprint sensor, and 393 PPI pixel density. Under the hood is an octa-core 8nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chipset clocked at up to 2.2 GHz with an Adreno 618 GPU. The smartphone comes in a single memory variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
When it comes to imaging, the Galaxy A80 has an impressive rotating triple-camera setup with a 48MP primary sensor. It also offers an 8MP ultra-wide camera with 123-degree field-of-view and a 3D depth camera with an f/1.2 aperture. Surprisingly, the Galaxy A80 has a smaller battery compared to most other Galaxy A-series phones launched by Samsung this year. It packs a 3700mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. As far as the software is concerned, the Galaxy A80 runs on Android 9.0 Pie OS with Samsung’s One UI running on top of it.
