Samsung India recently confirmed that it will be launching the Galaxy M40 in the country at an event on June 11. The Galaxy M40, as its name clearly suggests, will be positioned above the Galaxy M30 in Samsung’s Galaxy M-series lineup, In many areas, the smartphone is expected to be a pretty massive upgrade over the Galaxy M30. According to a new report from SamMobile, however, the Galaxy M40 will be less impressive than the Galaxy M30 and M20 in terms of battery life.
Samsung Galaxy M40 Will Reportedly Pack a 3500mAh Battery
Early rumors had claimed the Galaxy M40 would come with a 5000mAh battery, identical to the Galaxy M30 (review) and Galaxy M20. However, the new report from SamMobile says the Galaxy M40 will instead feature a 3500mAh battery. This means the Galaxy M40 will only have a 100mAh larger battery than the entry-level Galaxy M10. Thanks to the smaller battery, you can expect the smartphone to be less impressive than the other two more affordable Galaxy M-series smartphones in terms of battery life. However, we do expect to see support for at least 15W fast charging.
Samsung Galaxy M40 Will Have 32MP + 5MP + 8MP Triple Rear Cameras
In addition to revealing the smartphone’s battery capacity, the report sheds light on some of its other key features as well. The upcoming Galaxy M-series handset will have a triple-camera setup at the rear with a 32MP primary sensor, 5MP depth sensor, and an 8MP ultra-wide snapper. On the front will be a 16MP resolution camera for selfies and video calls.
As confirmed by previous leaks, the Samsung Galaxy M40 will arrive with a 6.3-inch Infinity-O Super AMOLED display panel with 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It will have Qualcomm’s 11nm Snapdragon 675 chipset running under the hood, along with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Like the other Galaxy M-series phones, we expect to see a dedicated microSD card slot for further expansion. In terms of software, the Galaxy M40 is going to be Samsung’s first M-series smartphone to ship with the Android Pie operating system right out of the box. The other Galaxy M-series smartphones were all launched with Android 8.1 Oreo OS earlier this year and started receiving the Pie update only a few days back.
The Galaxy M40 will be sold via Amazon.in as well as Samsung’s online store in the Indian market. While the pricing hasn’t been confirmed yet, the latest report claims the phone will be priced around INR 20,000 in the country.
