Leak: Samsung Galaxy S11 Launch Date Revealed Along With A Few Features

When it comes to the popular phone line-up, the rumor mill never stops. And while most people are still struggling to get hands-on the Galaxy S10 and Note 10, the speculations regarding Samsung’s next big thing are already doing rounds on the Internet. In the latest round, folks at SamMobile have obtained information that puts the Korean giant’s upcoming flagship phone’s launch date in the third week of February.

Samsung Galaxy S11 Rumoured Specifications

As per the Korean press, the Galaxy S11 will sport a quad-camera setup at the back. The highlight would be its primary 108 MP camera. The company has already developed the sensor and has even provided it to Xiaomi for its recently-unveiled Mi Mix Alpha smartphone with futuristic wrap-around display. The project to build a lens and camera module is underway at Samsung’s Electro-Mechanics division. I’m quite convinced that the Korean will ensure that the Galaxy S11 gets to flaunt the 108 MP camera. The same source also suggests that the successor of the Galaxy S10 will come with a 5x periscope zoom feature. With the latest iPhone, Pixel, and Huawei devices taking the camera game to the next level, Samsung needs to pull off something impressive for its top-end handset.

Next up is the spectrometer, which will make Samsung the only brand after China’s Changhong to equip its phone with a material sensor. According to a Dutch website Let’sGoDigital, the Korean company has filed a patent for a smartphone with a spectrometer sensor. For those not in the know, a spectrometer is used for determining the chemical composition reading of a planet’s surface. Using this space-age technology, it is possible to detect the freshness of fruits and authenticity of jewelry. Samsung can even tune it to find the calorie values of food items.

Other leaks suggest that the handset will run Android One UI 2.1 out of the box. In terms of hardware, Samsung will ditch the 3.5 mm headphone jack. Samsung may release the top model of the phone with a whopping 1 TB of internal storage. And of course, Samsung will stick to its gorgeous in-house AMOLED display. The Koreans are also likely to completely conceal the selfie camera under the display. And if you ask me, a proper design refresh wouldn’t hurt either.
