The recently announced Moto G8 Plus smartphone with a 48MP primary camera will go on its first sale today in India. The device is kept at an asking price of INR 13,999 and will sell via Flipkart in the country.
Moto G8 Plus – full specifications
Starting things off with the display of the device, the Moto G8 Plus sports a 6.3-inch FHD+ display with a waterdrop notch at the top. The aspect ratio of the LTPS IPS LCD display stands at 19:9 and the display gives out a resolution of 2280 x 1080 Pixels.
The device measures at 75.83 mm x 158.35 mm x 9.09 mm and weighs in at 188g.
Even after the fact that there is a notch, there is a considerable amount of bezels at the chin and the forehead of the device. Again, there is nothing too special going on as far as the looks of the device are concerned.
The volume buttons and the power button are on the right side of the device while the SIM tray is on the left side. As of now, the device is available in only one color variant – Cosmic Blue.
Moving to the rear of the device, we get the traditional physical fingerprint scanner embedded underneath the Motorola logo. At the top left flank, we get a triple rear camera setup.
Speaking of the cameras, we get a 48MP (f/2.0, Quad Pixel Technology, 1.6micrometer) + 5MP (f/2.2, 1.12micrometer) + 16MP (16MP Sensor, f/2.2, Quad Pixel Technology, 2.0micrometer, Dedicated Ultra-wide FOV 117Degree Video) combination at the back (with the quad pixels technology that paves the way for 4x low light sensitivity) and a pretty decent 25MP front camera.
The rear camera comes equipped with a Night Vision mode. Furthermore, the device offers up to 8X digital zoom and Phase Detection Autofocus.
Under the hood, the Moto G8 Plus is powered with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 Processor which is coupled with 4GB of RAM, Adreno 610 GPU, and 64GB of internal storage which can further be expanded with the help of an external SD card. The SIM card slot is a hybrid one meaning that one can either use two SIM cards at a time or a SIM card and a microSD card.
Moving on to the batter of the device, the Moto G8 Plus is fueled by a big 4,000mAh battery which has support for 15W TurboPower Charging. Thankfully enough, a 15W TurboPower Charger is bundled with the box. Sadly enough, the charging port is still a standard USB 2.0 unit. What goes in the favor of the device is the fact that there is a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top of the device.
As far as the OS is concerned, the Moto G8 Plus will run on Android 9 Pie out of the box.
On paper, the device looks promising and Motorola appears to have kept the pricing right this time. That said, there is a bunch of alternatives available in the markets. Take the Realme 5 or the Redmi Note 8 for an example.
