OnePlus Z to Reportedly Feature Snapdragon 765 SoC, Launch Tipped for July 2020

After making quite a few rounds on the internet, OnePlus finally unveiled its brand new OnePlus 8 lineup of smartphones. Though the brand has launched the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones, it has still not said anything about the much-awaited OnePlus Z. Rumours surrounding the potential launch of the brand’s mid-range offering have been popping up online alongside the likes of the OnePlus 8 series, but the company did not launch it during the OnePlus 8 event, much to our surprise. Well, it seems like all hope is not lost and the company could still be working on launching the OnePlus Z smartphone this summer, July 2020 if the rumours are to be believed. Well, a new leak has recently surfaced, which suggests that the OnePlus Z will be powered by a Snapdragon 765 processor and not the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L chipset, which we earlier heard the rumors about. Take a look at the recent report surrounding the OnePlus Z smartphone and find out what we know about the device so far.

OnePlus Z Could Feature a Snapdragon 765 Processor, New Leak Suggests

As mentioned earlier, the OnePlus Z is now being tipped to be fueled by Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 765 mobile platform. The leak came courtesy of Max J on Twitter and has been reported by GSMArena. The leak has received a little more credibility with the theory that OnePlus may have delayed the launch of the OnePlus Z because of the possibility of a collaboration with Qualcomm.

If we notice the company’s previous track record, OnePlus has had a close association with Qualcomm when it comes to processors, so it makes complete sense that the company would have accepted a potential proposal for the Snapdragon 765 processor by Qualcomm. That would easily explain the delay in the launch of the OnePlus Z. That being said, this is all a bunch of speculation as of now, and we would suggest and request our readers to take things with a slight pinch of salt until OnePlus makes things official.

The sad thing about the presence of the Snapdragon 765 in the OnePlus Z would be the fact that the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 series chipsets appear to be much more potent processors when compared with their Snapdragon 765 counterpart, so we are not entirely sure as to whether or not this would be a good decision.

As far as the specifications of the device are concerned, the OnePlus Z is said to feature a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display with a centrally-aligned single punch-hole selfie snapper. The device is tipped to sport a 90Hz refresh rate display. Under the hood, the OnePlus Z could be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 processor, which is said to be clubbed with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of onboard storage.

At the back, the OnePlus Z will likely boast a triple rear camera setup, which will include a 48MP primary sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide lens, and a 12MP sensor with optical zoom. At the front, the device will make room for a 16MP selfie snapper.

Coming to the battery of the device, the OnePlus Z is said to be fueled by a 4,000mAh battery with support for fast charging. On the software side of things, the OnePlus Z will run the latest Android 10 OS out of the box with Oxygen OS skin baked on top of it.
