But also, based on the name, it's most likely to be a smart object tracker, to compete with Tile. The Galaxy Smart Tag was certified by the Indonesian authorities with the model...

OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9E, OnePlus 9 Pro: Company Tipped to Add One More Phone in Smartphone Lineup in Q1 2021

OnePlus 9 series is tipped to launch earlier than usual. If rumours are to be believed, then the upcoming OnePlus flagship devices will be launching in March 2021. OnePlus was previously rumoured to launch two smartphones, namely the 9 and 9 Pro. A new leak from tipster Max J suggests that the company will instead launch three devices, with the third one being the OnePlus 9E. The tipster has shared a teaser poster which mentions the names of the three upcoming OnePlus smartphones. Let’s take a look at everything we know about the OnePlus 9 series launching in March 2021.

OnePlus to launch three smartphones under OnePlus 9 series according to new leak

OnePlus has been launching two flagship devices under a series since the OnePlus 7, which includes a standard model and its “Pro” variant. The OnePlus 8T, however, did not get a Pro model. With the upcoming OnePlus 9 series, the company is planning to launch three smartphones. Max has only shared an image that reveals the names of the three devices. The tweet does not reveal any other information regarding the three smartphones.

It is yet to be seen if the 9E locates in front of the regular OnePlus 9 or is an even more budget offer.

Specifications and CAD renders of the other two smartphones have been leaked previously.

OnePlus 9

OnePlus 9 is said to feature a  larger screen compared to the OnePlus 8T’s 6.55-inch display. The screen is said to be flat and will also come with a hole-punch cutout on the top-left corner. Furthermore, the device will come with a 120Hz refresh rate. Reports in the past claimed that the upcoming OnePlus flagship is likely to support a 144Hz refresh rate.

The rear panel will be curved and sport a rectangular camera module housing three sensors. Out of the three, the device will feature a 48MP main wide lens and a 48MP ultrawide lens. The report does not mention any details regarding the third lens which is relatively smaller in size than the other two cameras.

OnePlus 9 Pro

The 9 Pro will be a higher-end offering with a 6.7-inch display with curved edges and a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera. The rear glass panel will sport a quad-camera setup. Two out of the four camera sensors in the CAD renders are enclosed within huge metal rings which protrude slightly from the main camera bump. Detailed specifications of the camera sensors are not known at the moment.

We can expect both smartphones to get powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 processor, which is scheduled to release at the Qualcomm Summit in December 2020. The device is also likely to feature a dual stereo-speaker setup, NFC, and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Like the OnePlus 8T, the upcoming OnePlus smartphone would feature 65W fast charging, coupled with fast wireless charging.

What are your thoughts on the OnePlus 9 series? Do let us know in the comments below.

Apple Music: Here’s How You Can Grab Free 5 Month Subscription Offered by Shazam

Apple is trying to get more users onboard to try its music streaming service, Apple Music. The Cupertino-based US tech giant is offering up to five months of free Apple Music to users in the US, India, Australia, Canada, and some other countries. In order to avail the offer, users need to download Shazam on their iPhone. The free trial is a part of the special holiday offer and can be claimed until January 17, 2021. The process to avail five months of free Apple Music subscription is simple but there is a catch.

Apple offering free Apple Music via Shazam in India, US, and other countries

Apple Music has been among the popular services launched by Apple. The company, in a bid to lure more users to try its premium service, is offering free subscription for first time users for up to five months.

To get the subscription for free, there are two conditions. The first one is that the user must not have subscribed to Apple’s Music service previously. Two, the user needs to download Shazam from the App Store.

Once you have downloaded Shazam, open the app and tap on the Shazam logo to recognize a song. The app will immediately offer you a five-month free trial if you have never used Apple Music before.

Apple generally offers a three-month free trial for first time users. The Shazam offer combined gives users a total of five months of free Apple Music.

Apple bought Shazam for a reported among of $400 million in 2018. Shazam is a music recognition app that uses the phone’s microphone to listen and help you identify a song playing in the background.

Apple has also integrated the feature in iOS 14’s Control Centre. To do so, ensure that your iPhone is running on iOS 14 or newer. Then, open the Settings app and tap on Control Centre. Scroll down under “More Controls” and tap on the “+” sign next to Music recognition. The toggle is added to the Control Centre and you can tap on the Shazam logo every time you want to recognise a song playing in the background. You will, however, not be able to avail the five-month free trial offer via this method.

As India continues its ban on Chinese apps and games, India-made alternatives have started to get more attention. Among these has been the famed FAU-G. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar had announced Fearless and United Guides, a.k.a. FAU-G, back in September. Ever since then, there have been discussions about the game, and anticipation of its release. Heck, even fake apps with the game’s name started appearing on the Google Play Store recently.

FAU-G India Pre-Registrations Begin on Google Play Store, First Look at Graphics

FAU-G home screen

FAU-G aims to honour the Indian Army, and that has driven a lot of hype around the game. The first look at graphics shows us cel-shaded animations, and if the game uses these in actual gameplay and not just the cutscenes, it will be a fresh experience for an Indian title.

Here’s the official synopsis of the game:

“High up on the peaks at India’s northern border, an elite fighting group protects the nation’s pride and sovereignty. It’s a daunting task, for the most courageous: The Fearless and United Guards.

Join a special unit of FAU-G commandos on patrol in dangerous border territory. Come face-to-face with India’s enemies as you engage with hostile invaders on Indian soil. Fight for survival against the unforgiving terrain and the implacable enemy. Fill the shoes of a patriotic soldier and experience the bravery, brotherhood, and sacrifice of the men guarding the country’s borders.

FAU-G is a proudly made in India project from nCore Games that pays tribute to the heroes of our nation’s armed forces. Based on real-world scenarios, FAU-G brings to life the thrill and adrenaline of a life spent guarding India’s borders.”

The developers, nCore, took to Twitter to announce this news:

You can pre-register for the game now, on the Google Play Store. The game was said to be launching in November 2020, but for now, we have the pre-registration only, and not a full release. Excited? Let us know, and stay tuned for more on FAU-G and its India launch.

Samsung is gearing up to launch the upcoming flagship smartphone series the Galaxy S21 in the first quarter of 2021. Alongside the company is also tipped to launch the next-generation earbuds dubbed as Galaxy Buds Pro. Amid all the leaks and speculations, we have spotted the Galaxy Buds Pro on the FCC certification revealing the case design and more. Here’s a closer look at the latest listing.

After confirming the moniker via Indonesia telecom certification. Now, the FCC website also confirms the SM-R190 model earbuds will be called Buds Pro. The TWS is listed on FCC website with model number SM-R190R and SM-R190L representing the right and left side of the Earbuds of Galaxy Buds Pro respectively. The listing also revealed the design of the charging case. The Galaxy Buds Pro is going to arrive in square-shaped charging case design with round edges. Apart from this, the FCC listing didn’t reveal much information about the upcoming TWS earbuds from Samsung. The certification categorizes the model number as a low power wireless device.

Meanwhile, we have also listed the Galaxy Buds Pro on SGS certification with model number SM-R190. The listing also claimed that the TWS earbuds will be fuelled by an 58mAh battery on each side.

The earbuds with the same model number were earlier listed in the Korean NRRA certification and the Galaxy Buds Pro were also spotted on the 3C certification site. The 3C listing suggests that the TWS will pack a 472mAh battery unit. It is expected that this might be the battery capacity for the capsule case and the individual earbuds will have different battery size.

The Galaxy Buds Pro is speculated to arrive alongside the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. The flagship smartphone series is expected to be launched in January 2020. Currently, there is not much information available about the successor of the Galaxy Buds+, but we are sure to receive more intel on the same in the coming days.

Let’s see when the company is planning to launch the Galaxy Buds Pro and at what price point it’s going to be available up for grabs. What are your thoughts on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro? Do let us know in the comments section below.

Sony Says PS5 Units Bought in Grey Market in India Before Official Launch Will Not Get Warranty

Sony PS5 has launched in multiple global markets, with a staggered rollout that started on November 12th. However, despite having a very vocal fan base, the PS5 India launch has remained a rather strange mystery. We have no information on PS5 India release or anything on the pre-orders. Nothing but the PS5 India pricing is official yet.

However, as it often happens with high-demand products, the PS5 is circulating in the grey markets, at absurd prices in India. While fans are buying these consoles at the inflated prices of around two to three times as much as actual India price, Sony has confirmed that the grey market PS5 units will not get the official warranty in India.

No Sony India Official Warranty for Grey Market PS5 Units, Confirms Sony

Sony PS5 with DualSense controller

MensXP got a confirmation from Sony reps that the scalper-supplied PS5 grey market units will get no India warranty. Here’s the official quote:

“We advise our customers to check for the official Sony India Warranty card at the time of purchase to avail warranty benefits within India and in this context, it is important to note that PlayStation products marketed by Sony India are certified based on India safety standards stipulated by BIS.”

Sony had also tried to curb unofficial preorders in India. However, it doesn’t have much to do when it’s about imported units. One would expect a product like the PS5 to carry an international warranty. However, Sony seems to be not taking that route.

Of course, given how vast the electronics grey market in India is, buyers will likely get an unofficial seller warranty. However, you’re left to the seller’s mercy in such cases. Sony is just making it clear it has no obligations to grey market buyers.

Of course, the point remains to be made that Sony should just release the PS5 in India and avoid the mess altogether. Speaking of which, it seems like we will not be getting the PS5 here that soon. So if you have been waiting and care for the official Sony India warranty, you might want to keep holding on (probablyfor much longer).

Stay tuned to us for more on the Sony PS5, and its India release.

Lypertek Levi review

Lypertek is a small Chinese audio manufacturer that shot to prominence last year with its in-ear TWS earbuds, the Lypertek Tevi. The Tevi received rave reviews from critics for its audio quality despite its budget-friendly $90 price tag and remains one of the most well-regarded product in its price range. The Levi that we are reviewing today is an even more affordable model in the company's lineup that only has three other models, including the Tevi. The Levi is priced at $60 and promises much of the same audio quality that popularized its elder sibling along with several other...

Sony PS5 Launch in India Might Not be in January 2021 Either, as Sony Stays Silent on Launch Date and Pre-orders

Sony PS5 India release has been a weird dance. PS5 released worldwide starting November 12th, followed by a wider release on November 19th. There have been several rumours about the PS5 India release date, and until now at least, none have held up. We were even seeing unofficial pre-orders from retailers, but Sony put an end to those pretty quickly.

Now, the new wave of Sony PS5 India release date rumours is pointing to a January 2021 release date. However, there has been nothing official that has even remotely suggested that this could be it. So it looks like we could be looking at another false positive.

Sony PS5 India Launch May Not Happen in January 2021 Either

Sony PS5

The Mako Reactor has been on top of PS5 India news the whole season, and they’re now reporting that there is no official angle to the PS5 India January 2021 release rumours. After the rumours of a January 2021 release date broke out, mostly due to a ton of retailers saying that Sony had communicated that release timeline to them, The Mako Reactor confirmed with official Sony representatives. Apparently, nothing is yet official:

“Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has not yet announced a launch date for PS5 in India. We will share an update on launch date for India as soon as more information becomes available; meanwhile please continue to monitor the official PlayStation channels.”

The Mako Reactor notes that this could be happening, once again, due to poor communication within Sony’s channels. Some Sony India officials could have passed on this information, off the record, to the retailers, without the green light from the decision-makers at Sony. A large-format retailer was quoted as saying:

”All we got is a verbal communication on it, nothing on email. I asked my Sony rep to put this on email and they weren’t willing to do so.”

While the PS5 is coming to India, since Sony India did give us pricing, we could have to wait even longer. Jim Ryan, Sony CEO, recently said that PS5 stocks are sold out entirely. Furthermore, the commitment of quantities of PS5 for India doesn’t seem to have been finalized yet either. We also have zero pre-order information yet.

So that’s that. Stay tuned to us for more on the Sony PS5 India release.

Week 48 in review: Poco M3, Redmi Note 9 trio official

Welcome to another week's recap. The biggest story is the European Parliament's vote in favor of users' right to repair. Starting in January, countries like France will begin labeling smartphones, laptops and other electronics with a repairability score of 1 through to 10. This new label will help buyers find a device they'll be able to easily repair instead of just replace down the line. Also this week Pocophone announced the Poco M3 with a 6,000mAh battery that can go for days and even charge other devices. The Poco M3 is already on sale in the US for $129, and is hitting Europe on...

Weekly poll: what do you think of the Poco M3?

The Poco M3 became available in the US and Europe this Friday – and since this isn’t just any other Friday, the $150/€150 phone was discounted to $130/€130. The price just about fits in the entry-level segment, but the phone’s 1080p+ display, Snapdragon 662 chipset and 48MP camera make it more of a mid-ranger. A great value-for-money mid-ranger with a large 6,000mAh battery. It supports forward and reverse charging at 18W and is enough to last 17 hours of nonstop video playback. The video you will enjoy on a 6.53” IPS LCD with 1080p+ resolution, even though many phones in this price...

Weekly poll results: Realme 7 5G gets a lukewarm reception, its Black Friday gambit fails

The need for 5G is a contentious topic with many still not being sold on the next-gen network technology – or just plain not having access to it. Which doesn’t bode well for the Realme 7 5G whose defining feature is... well, it says it right in the name. However, the results from last week’s poll show that lack of 5G hype is not the phone’s biggest issue. No, most voters aren’t convinced that this is the best 5G mid-ranger that money can buy, not even with the Black Friday discount it had this week. Some are holding off until reviews of the phone come out – speaking of which, check...
