Realme 10 Pro+ 5G vs Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G: Price, Specifications and Features Compared

Realme 10 Pro+ 5G has been officially launched in China. The company unveiled its new mid-range smartphone with some premium features. The Realme 10 Pro+ 5G is expected to launch soon in India. Realme has already confirmed the launch but the date is unknown at the time of writing this. The 10 Pro+ 5G will compete against the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, which could launch in India as the Xiaomi 12i HyperCharge. Xiaomi has not confirmed any details about the same.

Both phones pack the same processor under the hood. However, the rest of the hardware is quite different. Here’s a comparison of the specifications, features and other details of the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G and the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G.

Realme 10 Pro+ 5G vs Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G: Price

The Realme 10 Pro+ 5G has been launched in China for CNY 1699 (roughly Rs 19,400). The base model comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There is also the 8GB + 256GB storage option, which is priced at CNY 1999 (roughly Rs 22,900). The 12GB RAM option with 256GB of internal storage sits at the top and is priced at CNY 2299 (roughly Rs 26,300).

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G has been launched with two storage options. The base 8GB RAM variant with 256GB of internal storage is priced at CNY 2199 (roughly Rs 25,100). The top-end 12GB RAM variant also comes with  256GB of internal storage and is priced at CNY 2399 (roughly Rs 27,400). The India pricing of the two devices could be slightly higher.

Both phones feature a curved rear panel. The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G has a slightly flat metal frame. The rear panel, on the other hand, is made out of glass. It also features a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top edge. The phone comes in three colours —White, Black and Blue. It sports a rectangular camera module on the back.

The front of the phone houses a hole-punch cutout at the top centre of the display. The device weighs about 208 grams and is 9mm thick. It also comes with an IP53 rating for splash resistance. For biometrics, the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Realme 10 Pro+ 5G comes with a plastic back and frame. It weighs about 173 grams and is 7.8mm thick. The device has two large circular cutouts on the back for the triple-camera setup. It has been launched in three colours — Starlight Gold, Night Black and Sea Blue. On the front, the screen is curved, which is rare to see at this price point. It comes with a hole-punch cutout at the top centre for the front camera. The device comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner as well.

Realme 10 Pro+ 5G vs Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G: Display

The Realme 10 Pro+ 5G has a marginally taller 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 2160Hz PWM dimming. It also has a peak brightness of 800 nits and supports a billion colours. As mentioned above, the screen is curved for an immersive viewing experience.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G sports a flat display with a hole-punch cutout at the top centre. The phone comes with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The screen also offers a slightly higher peak brightness of 900 nits and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content.

Both phones come with a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC under the hood. The 6nm SoC comes with a peak clock speed of 2.6GHz. Realme is offering the phone with more RAM and storage options compared to Redmi. Both phones pack 8GB/ 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.

Realme has launched the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G with Realme UI 4.0 based on Android 13 out of the box. The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, on the other hand, runs on MIUI 13 based on the previous generation Android 12.

Realme 10 Pro+ 5G vs Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G: Cameras 

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G looks better on paper with its triple-camera setup on the back. It has a 200MP Samsung HPX sensor that features an f/1.65 aperture. The main camera supports optical image stabilisation (OIS). The other two cameras feature an 8MP ultrawide sensor and a 2MP macro shooter. For selfies, the phone has a 16MP front camera.

The Realme 10 Pro+ 5G has a triple-camera setup on the back with a 108MP Samsung HP6 main camera. It comes with an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, the hole-punch cutout houses a 16MP front camera.

Realme 10 Pro+ 5G vs Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G: Battery

The fast charging tech is where Redmi Note 12 Pro+ clearly leads. The phone supports 120W fast charging out of the box. The charging tech is the same one found in the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge in India. It is capable of charging the phone from zero to 100 per cent in about 20-25 minutes.

The Realme 10 Pro+ 5G offers support for 67W SuperVOOC fast charging out of the box. One can expect the phone to hit 100 per cent charge from zero per cent in about 30-35 minutes.

Both phones pack a beefy 5000 mAh battery under the hood, which could offer a day’s worth of juice on a single charge.

Realme 10 Pro+ 5G vs Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G: Verdict

On paper, both phones look like solid offerings from the respective brands. Of course, each phone has its USP, making it look better than the other one in certain areas. For instance, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G supports a faster 120W fast charging out of the box. It also comes with a 200MP high-resolution camera sensor. 

The Realme 10 Pro+ 5G’s USP is its curved display, which has never been seen in this price segment. It also comes with the latest Android 13 update out of the box, which helps the phone score an extra point.

For an immersive viewing experience, the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G could be an ideal pick. Those who want a faster charging experience and are okay with a generation-old software update can get the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G. That being said, Xiaomi is expected to roll out the Android 13 update in the coming weeks. The company has, unfortunately, not revealed any details about the timeline at the time of writing this.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, aka the Xiaomi 12i HyperCharge, and the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G price in India could be set under Rs 30,000. The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G is expected to launch early next year. Realme could launch its new mid-range smartphone by the end of this year in India.
