Xiaomi unveiled its Mi Pad 4 tablet just a few months ago. The Chinese manufacturer wasted no time in updated its software to Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 10 soon after the launch. Now, Mi Pad 4 tablets in China have started to receive another important update that brings support for Xiaomi’s Xiao AI digital assistant.
Xiao AI Now On Xiaomi Mi Pad 4
Xiaomi introduced its Xiao AI voice assistant earlier this year. The company released a promotional video showcasing the assistant’s ability to function with voice-based commands. Similar to how the Google Assistant or Apple’s Siri work, Xiao AI uses these voice commands to perform various activities such as control music playback, set alarms and reminders, provide weather/ time information and so on. The AI also has integration with messaging apps such as WeChat, and is even shown to be adept at controlling home gadgets such as the Mi Robot vacuum cleaner.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus Launched with 10.1-inch HD Display, 8620 mAh Battery in China
A few camera performance bugs and other stability improvements also make their way to Mi Pad 4 devices with this update.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4: Specifications, Features
The Mi Pad 4 comes with a large 8-inch LCD screen that offers a 1200 x 1920pixels resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 283ppi. This pixel density is slightly lower than that of its predecessor which was at 326ppi. However, the screen-to-body ratio gets a bump as the newer device achieved 77.1 percent while the older only had 71.8 percent. This large screen certainly supports features such as split screen mode for easy multitasking.
Mi Pad 4 Receives MIUI 10 v8.7.5 OS Update Based On Android 8.1 Oreo
Powering this tablet is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC which offers an octa-core CPU with four of its cores clocked at 2.2GHz while the other four are clocked at 1.8GHz. This is paired with an Adreno 512 GPU. Furthermore, there are two storage configurations of this device. You can either go for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage configuration, or opt for the 4GB RAM+ 64Gb storage option. You also have the choice between Wi-Fi only or LTE only variants.
The imaging setup on the Mi Pad 4 doesn’t really change compared to the one found on the Mi Pad 3. The tablet comes with a 13MP shooter at the back which supports video recording up to 1080p 30fps. On the other hand, the front-facing camera measures 5MP, offers an f/2.0 aperture, and supports HDR. It also offers Ai-assisted face recognition. Powering this contraption is a large 6000mAh battery. This battery charges over the provided USB Type-C port.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4: Expected Price in India
The 3GB RAM + 32GB storage (Wi-Fi only) model of the Mi Pad Pro is priced at CNY 1099 in China. This equates to approximately Rs. 11,300. The 4GB RAM + 64GB storage (Wi-Fi only) configuration is priced at CNY 1399, which is roughly Rs. 14,500. The 4GB RAM model also offers an LTE only variant which costs CNY 1499 (almost Rs. 15,500). The device also offers two colour options to choose from – Black and Rose Gold.
The Mi Pad 4 seems to be a good alternative for those who want a performance tablet and do not want to settle for Apple or Samsung tablets. It would be interesting to see how the Mi Pad 4 performs in terms of sales in China. What’s your take on the Mi Pad 4? Do you want Xiaomi to launch it in India soon?
