Lenovo Z5 Schumann Black Color Variant Now Available on Sale in China: Price, Features

The Lenovo Z5, which was teased as being the company’s next-gen flagship device before its launch, has managed to become quite popular in China, despite not being anywhere near as impressive as the early teasers had suggested. The smartphone’s Schumann Black color variant is now on sale in China again, carrying a price tag slightly lower than the other color options available for the Z5.

Lenovo Z5: Schumann Black Variant Now on Sale in China

The Lenovo Z5 Schumann Black is on sale today for 1,299 yuan, which translates to Rs.13,000 based on the ongoing exchange rate. That’s 100 yuan lower than the Aurora and Indigo Blue color variants of the Z5. However, seeing how popular the Lenovo Z5 is in general, the Schumann Black variant is unlikely to remain in stock for long.

Lenovo Z5: Specifications, Features

While Lenovo Vice President Chang Cheng had teased the Z5 as a flagship device boasting an incredible true bezel-less design, the smartphone is actually the company’s rival to Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 (Redmi Note 5 Pro) in China. The budget Android smartphone features a 6.2-inch 1080 x 2240 Full HD+ resolution IPS LCD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Apart from a bigger display, the Lenovo Z5 has another advantage over most of its rivals – DCI-P3 color space coverage. It also boasts a higher brightness rating of 700 nits, higher than most other budget Android smartphones. Under the hood, Lenovo Z5 is powered by an octa-core 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset clocked at 1.8 GHz with an Adreno 509 GPU taking care of the graphics processing duties. Moving on to memory, the Lenovo Z5 is available in China in two configurations – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. However, the smartphone does not include a microSD card slot for further expansion.

In the camera department, the Lenovo Z5 comes with a 16MP + 8MP AI dual-camera setup at the rear with phase-detection autofocus and an f/2.0 aperture. The list of AI-powered features on offer includes AI Portrait, AI Night Mode, and AI Noise Reduction. For selfies and video calls, the Lenovo Z5 has an 8-megapixel snapper on the front with 3D Beauty mode to enhance all the selfies that you take. It supports Face Unlock as well for quick access. Alternatively, you can simply use the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the Z5 to unlock it.

In the connectivity department, Lenovo Z5 comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g//n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, USB 2.0 Type-C port, and 4G VoLTE. Fueling the handset’s internals is a 3300mAh capacity battery with fast charging support. The smartphone measures 153 x 75.65 x 7.85mm and weighs in at 165 grams. In terms of software, the Lenovo Z5 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based ZUI 4.0. Lenovo has confirmed that the smartphone will be updated to Android P.

Lenovo Z5: Expected Price in India

Lenovo hasn’t given out any hints yet regarding the launching of the Z5 in India. Although the smartphone could prove to be a solid rival to the Redmi Note 5 Pro and ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 smartphones in India, it doesn’t seem very likely that it could be arriving in India anytime soon. If it does land in India, it might cause some trouble to the Motorola budget smartphones like the Moto G6, so that’s another reason for Lenovo to not bring it to the Indian market. In case Lenovo decides that it needs the Z5 to take on Xiaomi in the budget smartphone segment in India, we expect the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant to be competitively priced at somewhere around Rs.16,000.
