Oppo F9 to Feature in Sunrise Red Colour With Gradient Design; Launch Expected Soon?

The yet-to-arrive Oppo F9 seems to get closer in terms of its arrival now, with Oppo tweeting yet another development that shows the device in a new light. This time, the Chinese company has hinted at a gradient design for the phone, which should add to the highly successful F family of phones here.

Oppo F9: Sunrise Red Colour

Oppo Malaysia today tweeted that the Oppo F9 will be coming in a new Sunrise Red colour, which looks as fancy as it sounds. The colour covers a gradient design, meaning that the body of the phone will have a dual-tone finish, with a blend of purple and red making the new gradient ‘Sunrise Red’. From its official Twitter handle, Oppo Malaysia on Tuesday shared a picture that shows the upcoming Oppo F9 in a garden of purple and beneath a sky of red hues, with the phone’s back panel seeming to take a red colour on its upper half and a purple shade on its lower half.

Gradient designs are all the rage in 2018, with many phones even in the budget range coming with mirror-like finish on the back panel, and gradient colours that change according the reflection of light falling on the phone body. Also, the accompanying text in the tweet says quite clearly that the gradient colour called Sunrise Red is a mix of purple and red. “Every sunrise symbolizes the start of another day. The OPPO F9 Sunrise Red, with the mixture of purple and red brings you a new beginning. Would you like to pick the Sunrise Red as your colour?” Oppo Malaysia tweeted.

The text inside the picture reads: “Colour has no boundaries,’’ and “F9 Sunrise Red is coming”.

Oppo F9: Launch Imminent?

The Oppo F9 was teased by Oppo Malaysia a day earlier too, with the same Twitter account showing off a new notch design for the display of the phone, which is set to be the successor to the wildly popular Oppo F7. The photo shared in the tweet earlier showed a waterfall amidst vast greenery, with the waterfall taking the shape of a mobile device. The text in the photo said ‘The Breaking New Vision — F9 is Coming’, but the front display was not revealed properly. What became clear immediately was that the Oppo F9 will have a tiny notch at the top, which looks significantly smaller than the notch on Oppo F7.

The same tweet also said that the phone will have a ‘waterdrop screen’, which is a term making no sense for now, except that it could be a screen made to resist drops of water easily. Analysts believe this hints at an IP67 certification. Since July 29, Oppo Malaysia has tweeted daily about the Oppo F9, boosting the speculation that the phone’s launch is imminent, and could be as early as August itself. On Sunday, Oppo Malaysia tweeted the picture of the waterfall, with the tweet reading: “A drop of rain falls on the leaf will shine they say (sic), but how if it falls on the screen? Get ready to welcome the OPPO F9 with new waterdrop screen, a breaking new Vision Experience for you”.

Come Monday, and the company tweeted two more pictures of the silhouette of the Oppo F9, with both pictures involving water. One picture showed a beachside, while the other showed deep sea diving, and both making apparent the terribly tiny notch on the display. The tweet on Monday read: “OPPO F9 breaking the norm, with a whole new vision and experience. #OPPOF9 #WaterdropScreen #ComingSoon.”

With no let-up in the teasing on Tuesday as well, we too find it likely that the launch of the Oppo F9 is possible in August, and we hope that is the case.

Oppo F9: Rumoured Specifications

As of now, the leaks related to the Oppo F9 have been few, and all we know is that the device is coming with a Pro variant, a dual rear camera lined-up horizontally, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, a notch much smaller than the Oppo F7, water resistance, and a Helio P60 processor.
