OnePlus 6 Goes Out of Stock on Amazon Ahead of OnePlus 6T Sale in India on November 01

This year’s hands-down buyer favorite in the premium smartphone segment, the OnePlus 6 (review), is out of stock on Amazon now, just ahead of the launch of its new iteration OnePlus 6T.

The OnePlus 6 was listed under offers on Amazon as an Amazon Exclusive product, and had sold for as low as INR 29,999. Presently, the price of the handset is the same as launch time, i.e. INR 34,999 for the standard 6GB RAM variant with 64GB storage. The other variant, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, was also selling hot, at INR 39,999. Both models have now sold out on Amazon. Apart from this e-store, the handset can be purchased through the growing network of OnePlus retail stores, and the online store of the brand. However, the handset has sold out in all its variants at the OnePlus e-store as well, including the top spec 8GB+256GB model that retails at INR 43,999.

OnePlus 6 vs OnePlus 6T: What’s New?

With the launch of the OnePlus 6T set for tomorrow, it is unlikely for OnePlus 6 stocks to be replenished anytime soon. The Chinese brand might be nudging buyers towards the new flagship handset this way, so it makes sense for us to take a look at what exactly has changed. For starters, the display looks new, but is not entirely new as such. There is now a waterdrop notch instead of the rectangular one we saw on the OnePlus 6.

The display is also larger, at 6.41 inches as compared to the 6.28-inch unit on the OnePlus 6, but it is not a substantial difference. The display type is also the same — Optic AMOLED with Full HD+ screen resolution. The pixel density is also the same, at 402 ppi, but the new handset gets Corning Gorilla Glass 6, while the OnePlus 6 comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

The brand has removed the 64GB storage option from the new 6T handset, so it starts with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There are two more memory configurations, which, again, are not new: 8GB RAM plus 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM plus 256GB storage.
The battery is larger now, improved from 3300mAh to 3700mAh, but it carries the same 20W fast charging support, sans the name Dash Charging, over which OnePlus had courted some trouble.

Perhaps the one difference that caught the attention of all is the in-display fingerprint sensor, which OnePlus claims is reliable and fast. As we reported earlier, the 3.5mm headphone is ditched, and not much else has changed. Of course, the new device will boot Android 9 Pie right out of the box, but the upgrade has reached OnePlus 6 as well.

Powering the OnePlus 6T is the same but dependable Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, the flagship processor by the American brand for 2018. Camera gear also remains largely the same, although there are software tweaks that improve the performance of the cameras. The front camera is 16MP with 25mm wide angle lens, and the rear dual camera is 16MP+20MP with both lenses being wide angle. The rear camera comes with dual-LED flash, large pixels, a wide f/1.7 aperture, Optical Image Stabilization, automatic HDR, slow-motion HD video recording (480fps) and 4K video recording support. The front camera gets large pixels, f/2.0 aperture, Auto HDR and Electronic Image Stabilization.

Connectivity features, except for the lack of the headphone jack, are also the same. The OnePlus 6T gets dual-band WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, NFC, and A-GPS. The price of the new OnePlus 6T is expected to start from INR 39,999, while the US base price is about INR 40,000 (USD 549).
