Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 with Touch Bezel, ECG and Voice Calling Features Launched

Samsung has just announced its Galaxy Watch Active 2 yesterday ahead of the high profile Unpacked event set to take place on August 7th in New York. The new smartwatch adopts the design of its predecessor launched roughly six months ago and brings back the bezel controls that were skipped on the Active. It will hit stores on September 27th for a starting price of $279.

The Watch Active 2 offers options in terms of build quality coming in an Aluminium and Stainless Steel case variant as well as 40mm and a 44mm dial size.  Moreover, there’s an LTE and Wi-Fi model as well. The Aluminium version can be picked up in Cloud Silver, Aqua Black and, Pink Gold shades. Also, the Fluoroelastomer (FKM) straps that come with it are available in a wide range of shades. The Stainless Steel will be offered in Silver, Black and a Gold finish and a leather strap.

Coming to specifications, the smaller Galaxy Watch Active 2 packs a 1.2-inch display while the bigger model has a 1.4-inch AMOLED display with 360 x 360p resolution. It’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass DX+ and the watch itself can survive up to 5ATM in water with its IP68 rating.

Under the hood, it rocks an Exynos 9110 processor assisted by 1.5GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It uses Bluetooth 5.0 and a 340mAh battery and can be charged wirelessly. It also has NFC, GPS, a heart rate monitor, and ECG capabilities. It’s still running Tizen OS but now offers Spotify and YouTube videos. The fitness-centric smartwatch can also track a range of 39 workouts, with an accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, and ambient light sensor. It also boasts voice call support and Bixby.

The Galaxy Watch Active 2 base 40mm model will cost $279.99 (roughly Rs. 20,000) and the 44mm model is priced $299.99 (roughly Rs. 21,000). Pre-orders will start on September 6th and sales will start on September 27.
