PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2020: India to Not Participate in the Biggest PUBG Mobile Tournament Yet

PUBG Mobile and India has been an on-and-off relationship. While the game was banned in a wave of 118 apps with a Chinese connection, we have been hearing of a return for a while now. To start off, a new deal with Microsoft Azure opened up the doors for a potential return.

Since then we have seen a lot of movement. PUBG Mobile has announced the India-specific version that will mark the game’s return here. PUBG Mobile India teasers are out, but the release date is shrouded in mystery. It seems like it’s not coming too soon, though, as India seems to be absent from the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2020, the biggest PUBG Mobile tournament yet, which was recently announced.

India Absent from PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2020, the Biggest PUBG Mobile Tournament Yet

The final event of the 2020 PUBG Mobile season is the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2020. Dubbed Season 0, this championship kicks off on November 24 and will go on till January 2021.

PUBG announced the championship back in August. The teams were recently revealed. PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2020 Season 0 will have 24 competing teams. The speciality of this championship is that it brings in the far east region and these 24 teams include a couple of teams from China as well. The prize pool is gigantic, worth USD 2 million!

However, notably missing here, is India. For starters, India is getting a custom version quite like China. Chinese teams have made it to the tournament, but Indian teams could have been left behind due to the new game not having made it out in time.

Neighbouring countries like Bangladesh and Nepal hare seeing representation too. Rumours had said that PUBG Mobile India could have been dropping as early as last week, but it looks like the announcement is not that close.

Like we have noted in the past, the approval for PUBG Mobile India from the government authorities still remains to be acquired. There hasn’t been any official indication of progress on that front yet, so we might have to wait and watch for the launch.
