RIP PUBG Lite: The Low Spec Version Of PUBG PC Shuts Down

PUBG developers, Tencent, introduced a Lite version of the game back in 2019. The new version was launched to help players run the battle royale on budget and midrange devices without demanding too many hardware resources. After a bit over four years of its launch, the game has been shut down. The developers confirmed the news via an in-game message and a blog-post. The developers informed that the Lite version cannot be played after April 29. However, players will continue to get customer support until May 29. Let’s take a look at more details around PUBG Lite shutting down.

PUBG Lite to shut down on April 29; new downloads no longer available

PUBG Lite developers have announced that the game will shut down soon. Players can continue to play the battle royale until April 29.

The developers took to the official blog post to confirm the news. “We are deeply grateful for the passion and support from the astounding number of PUBG LITE fans that have been with us. During the strenuous times of the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope that PUBG LITE was able to provide our fans with a fun way to stay safe. Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to close service after much deliberation and the time has come for our journey to end. We regretfully inform you that service of PUBG LITE is scheduled to end on April 29th, 2021 (UTC),” the blog post read.

The exact reason for the shutdown is currently unknown. Currently, the official website has shut down and no new downloads are supported in the game. The game will stop working from April 29. Users will get customer support until May 29. Players can continue to play the game until then and complete missions or spend their in-game coins.

Notably, PUBG LITE Facebook will be open even after the game service termination until further notice. “We would like to convey our sincerest apology as well as our deepest appreciation to everyone. We truly hope you have enjoyed your time with us and please look forward to our future endeavours,” the blog post read.
