WazirX Launches India’s First NFT Marketplace, to Host Artworks From Indian Artists
WazirX, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in India, has launched the country’s first NFT marketplace. NFTs stand for Non-Fungible Tokens and are crypto tokens that are used to signify ownership for digital items like artwork, music, albums and more. NFTs gained popularity over the last few months, especially after Twitter founder, Jack Dorsey, used one to sell the first tweet ever. Dorsey’s tweet was sold for over $2 million, and NFTs have since sold for much higher. Artwork from some of the top visual artists in the world have been involved in the sale of NFTs.
The WazirX NFT marketplace, on the other hand, hosts artworks from Indian artists right now. The company said it has received over 15000 applications from collectors and creators right now. The company has tied up with visual artist Vimal Chandran, anonymous street artist Tyler, wall mural artist Sneha Chakraborty, Montreal-based mixed media artist Ishita Banerjee, and automotive photographer Arjun Menon among others. It said over 300 creators have been whitelisted and will be releasing their works on the marketplace.
Unlike most NFT marketplaces though, the WazirX marketplace isn’t based on the Ethereum blockchain. Instead, the platform is based on the Binance Smart Chain, a blockchain platform created by WazirX’s parent company, Binance. WazirX’s own WRX token will be used for transactions, and the company said NFTs will be transferable to other chains, like Ethereum, eventually.
Another difference between the WazirX marketplace and other NFT marketplaces is that it will only have “fixed price” sales right now. That means there will be no bidding for NFTs, at least for the time being, unlike other platforms.
The platform will also have Spotlight and Discover sections. While the Spotlight section will have curated artists, WazirX will be releasing 50 selected artists on Discover every day, from the 15000 applications mentioned above. “Our list of curated collectors and the 5 Million strong WazirX Crypto Community shall give us the impetus needed to grow the NFT community within the region,” said Vishakha Singh, Advisor, NFT Marketplace at WazirX.
“More artists and collectors across the globe are today tapping the power of NFTs. By doing so, they are realizing the wide-ranging benefits of using smart contracts to dignify and secure the digital art ownership for every artist and collector by providing them with an opportunity to create wealth. The software helps to enhance the frame rate performance of demanding games. The brand says that 4K games will see up to 2x performance boost with this technology.
The company gave an example of Godfall. The game was running on RX 6800 XT GPU in 4K with ray tracing activated. This delivered an underwhelming performance of 47fps. However, the moment Super Resolution was turned, the game was running at an impressive 150 fps.
Should NVIDIA Worry?
The new technology from AMD comes in direct competition with NVIDIA’s DLSS. NVIDIA introduced this feature for its RTX graphics cards. The feature uses artificial intelligence to boost a game’s frame rate performance to give an enhanced gaming experience. However, this feature is only restricted to the flagship graphics cards.
However, AMD has confirmed that its FidelityFX Super Resolution or FSR will be an open-source platform. This simply means that it will be compatible with over 100 CPUs and GPUs, including the ones that feature NVIDIA graphics. AMD says that it wants to increase the incentive for developers to support the technology. That said, AMD is yet to reveal the list of compatible titles that will support its latest technology.

We are aware of the fact that Samsung is prepping up for the launch of the Galaxy A22 smartphone. This particular device is supposed to launch in 4G and 5G versions. The Galaxy A22 4G model had appeared on Geekbench a few days ago. Additionally, the 4G version was spotted at FCC, NBTC, and Indonesia Telecom Certifications. Apart from this, we even saw the full renders and detailed specifications of the A22 4G/5G variants last month. Now, in a recent development, the support page of the Galaxy A22 4G model has gone live on Samsung’s official Russia website. This does one-way hint that the launch of the device is imminent in the upcoming few weeks.
Samsung Galaxy A22 Support Page Goes Live Ahead of Launch
The Galaxy A22 smartphone that has appeared on Samsung’s Russian website carries a model number as the SM-A22FN/DSN. This is the same model which had appeared on Geekbench a few days ago. The A22 4G is supposed to feature a 6.4-inch AMOLED display. The device under the hood might ship with MediaTek’s Helio G80 SoC along with 6GB of RAM. On the software side of things, the handset might run Android 11 out of the box.
As for the imaging purpose, the A22 4G might sport a quad-camera setup. The rear-facing camera module on the A22 is supposed to include a 48MP primary main camera, a secondary 5MP sensor, and a pair of 2MP cameras. For selfies and video-calling, the phone might feature a 13MP camera. The whole package might draw a power from a 5000mAh battery. The device is tipped to offer 15W fast-charging support, similar to the A22 5G model.
In a piece of related news, the Galaxy A22 4G model had also appeared on Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification. This does indicate that the device might launch in India in the upcoming months. If we have a recap of the A22 5G specs, this variant is said to feature a 6.4-inch FHD+ LCD display. Powering the device under the hood could be Dimensity 700 SoC. The device might come with 6GB of RAM. Amazon India has not specified any end date to its promotional offer as of now. However, given that such promotional offers run only for limited periods, users will be recommended to get their subscriptions soon, if they wish to avail the offer. India Crypto Trading: HDFC Bank, SBI Falsely Telling Traders Crypto is Illegal
The Indian crypto industry’s woes with banks and regulations are set to continue, as Indian banks have started sending emails to users trying to deter them from dealing in cryptocurrencies. According to multiple tweets from users and reports online, HDFC Bank and the State Bank of India (SBI) have sent out letters to users, and at least one of these letters is misleading and tries to convince users that trading in crypto is actually illegal in India, which it is not. Crypto regulations in India are certainly unclear right now, but there is no regulation that says it’s illegal.
An email from HDFC Bank shared by creator Rinku Saini on Twitter, said, “We have observed that your account reflects probable virtual currency transactions, which aren’t permitted as per RBI guidelines.” The email further added, “To comply with the regulatory guidelines (RBI vide guidelines DBR.No.BP.BC.104 /08.13.102/2017-18 dated April 06, 2018), the Banks are advised to exercise due diligence by closely examining the transactions carried out in the account on an ongoing basis.”

This is where things get murky. The email refers to an RBI order that was sent in 2018, and directed regulated financial institutions in India to stop doing business with any crypto related entity. However, the Supreme Court of India quashed this order in March last year, citing proportionality issues with it. While the SC doesn’t necessarily say that crypto trading is legal in India, there is no law that says it’s illegal. And according to Indian laws, things will be considered legal unless they are explicitly made illegal by law.
The letter from SBI is slightly better than HDFC’s. “Reserve Bank of India has repeatedly through its public notices cautioned users, holders and traders of virtual currencies, including Bitcoins, regarding various risks associated in dealing with such virtual currencies,” the SBI letter said. “RBI has not given any license/authorization to entities regulated by them to operate in cryptocurrency schemes or any form of virtual currencies such as Bitcoins,” the letter adds. Both letters were tweeted by Manoj Nagpal, a journalist at Outlook Asia.

To be clear, the RBI did send an informal guidance to banks earlier this month, which led them to stop working with crypto firms. This led banks like ICICI, HDFC and others to withdraw services from crypto exchanges in India, which in turn have had to stop taking rupee deposits from users in the country.

The removal of the charger adapter from the Apple iPhone 12’s retail box has disappointed a wide range of users across the globe. If you’re among the ones then this news might bring a smile to your face. Back in March this year, Cupertino-based tech giant Apple was fined by the authorities of Brazil for ditching the charger adapter in the flagship iPhone 12’s retail box.
The company paid USD 2 million as a penalty, but it seems that’s not enough for the Brazilian authorities. After losing the lawsuit to Mariana Morales Oliveira, from Santos (Sao Paulo), Brazil, the company seems to include a charger adapter with iPhone 12 packaging as well. Apple to Include Charger Adapter in Brazil
According to the reports, the final verdict of the case was concluded on May 23rd, 2021, where Mariana gained a win. Mariana’s lawyer claimed that the case is called “tied sale.” He proclaimed that the company has removed the charger from the retail box. This forced users to buy an extra accessory which also comes in a retail box that doesn’t support Apple’s environmentally friendly agenda.

IT IS RELATIVE PROTECTION BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT STOPPED SELLING THE ACCESSORY. IT HAS NOT STOPPED MANUFACTURING THE CHARGER. SO FAR THE ONLY THING IS THAT IT DOESN’T COME WITH THE DEVICE. HOWEVER, YOU CAN STILL BUY IT SEPARATELY. IT’S KIND OF POINTLESS. ONLY THE CHARGER THAT COMES WITH THE SMARTPHONE POLLUTES THE ENVIRONMENT? THE SEPARATE CHARGER DOESN’T?”
The lawsuit is over now and the company has to obey the orders and deliver a free charger to Mariana within 10 days. In case Apple fails to deliver the charging adapter then it has to pay a daily fine of 200 Brazilian Real and it can go up to 5,000.
It seems to be a fantastic win for Mariana and the lawsuit has also helped other iPhone 12 users who are disappointed by the company for ditching the power adapter from the retail box. This would be a big lesson for Apple, moving forward the company will rethink the consequences before taking any wild step like the removal of the charger adapter.

iPhone 12 Dropped in Canal Recovered Thanks to MagSafe: Here’s How
An iPhone 12 user was recently going past a canal in Berlin, Germany, when he happened to accidentally drop it in the canal. While this would typically mean a sad demise to any smartphone, things were to have a rather interesting ending this time. After searching in the mud of the canal for hours and failing to retrieve the iPhone 12, the person seemingly designed an improvised fishing rod, with magnets at its end. Twitter user Frederik Riedel detailed this incident on a thread, and while the amusing nature of this search and rescue operation has clearly attracted considerable attention, it also highlights how MagSafe may come of use in more than just one situation. Introduced with the iPhone 12 lineup, MagSafe in its latest iteration is Apple’s take on a wireless charging and accessories ecosystem, where add-on devices can simply snap on to the back of the new iPhones, in order to increase functionality. This may include features such as fast wireless charging, external casing and so on.
This is done thanks to a new, circular magnet setup slapped on the back of the new iPhone 12 generation. The latter has also attracted criticism when the MagSafe panel was said to be interfering with pacemaker machines, thereby appearing to be a health hazard. Apple has since clarified that the iPhone 12 series does not pose any health hazard, and reiterated that even as general practice, users are recommended to not keep their phones in chest pockets. More recently, an iPhone 12 user dropped his phone in a stretch of ferrous sand, to find that the MagSafe panel attracted the iron bits from within the sand.
The latest lost and found episode, though, will certainly mark a positive element for MagSafe, which Riedel jovially referred to on Twitter as iPhone 12’s “built-in canal recovery technology.” While not too many users will most likely drop their iPhones into canals at 3 o’clock in the morning and then need to design an improvised magnet tracer to get it back, in case anyone does end up in such a situation, it is encouraging to note that chances of recovery would be fairly strong.

Gadgets With LCD Displays Could Become a Lot Cheaper in India, Here’s Why
LCD displays in India may become less expensive than what they are right now, thanks to a new initiative by the Indian government to attract more manufacturers to invest in the country. The information comes courtesy of an online conference hosted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity), cites a report by DigiTimes Asia. According to the report, Meity is now considering incentivising local manufacturing of LCD panels in order to attract manufacturing companies to the country. This incentive may be up to $20 billion – a figure that seems to be rather on the higher side, even considering the prospect of business in India.
The Meity has reportedly attracted memorandums of understanding (MoUs) from local and international investors in the LCD displays industry, and will use these to chalk out a production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for the sector within the next six months. Through its PLI scheme for LCD panels, the central government is said to be able to support up to four large scale display manufacturing projects in the country – something that the government is certain to look at from both in-country sales as well as export angles.
In the LCD displays parlance, these plants would require focus on specific LCD display production ‘lines’ to suit certain types of displays. In India, plants that win the government’s PLI contracts shall look to establish 6G LCD display lines for smartphones and mobile displays, and 8.5G lines that would suit devices belonging to other categories. Local manufacturing is expected to support LCD display demand that DigiTimes claims is expected to reach $18.9 billion by 2025. With its new PLI schemes, the Indian government is looking to pitch the country as a viable business destination for companies. The manufacturing space has seen widespread domination from China, of which India seemingly wants a pie now.
Interestingly, after setting fairly lofty targets to begin with, the Indian government has reportedly been considering softening the first year production target for 16 manufacturers who were signed up for the mobile phone manufacturing PLI scheme in the country. The downturn due to Covid-19, coupled with a global chipset supply shortage, are believed to have been concerns – and given that these factors were largely out of the manufacturers’ hands, a relaxation of the first-year target appears to now be in order.

DoT Asks Telecom Providers to Test 5G in Rural Areas, Allocates Sub-6GHz and mmWave Spectrums
The Indian government may try to push telcos to conduct 5G trials in rural areas along with urban centres, says a new report. The Department of Telecom (DoT), which had given permission to Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea to conduct 5G trials in India, will ask the companies to include rural areas in their tests. State-owned MTNL is also going to be given trial spectrum for conducting tests, once the company submits fees of Rs. 5000, which is required for the permission. The company will apparently conduct trials in Najafgarh, near Delhi, once they receive the trial spectrum, according to the report.
At the moment, the government has allocated spectrum in 700 MHz, 3.3-3.6 GHz and the 24.25-28.5 GHz bands. DoT has also approved equipment from Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung and C-DoT, for the trials. Notably, Chinese vendors ZTE and Huawei have been left out of the trials. Reliance Jio will apparently use a combination of its own technology and that from Samsung in order to conduct the test, the report said. This, though, wasn’t confirmed by Jio and Samsung.
Further, while Jio has applied for conducting trials in Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat and Hyderabad, Airtel will be conducting trials in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru. This raises the question as to how rural areas will be included in the trials. It’s possible that 5G tests will be done in rural areas neighbouring these metros, but it doesn’t seem like the government will be able to push the companies towards the real inner areas of the country.
Further, the trials will also include testing for 5G applications, like telemedicine, tele-education and drone-based agriculture monitoring. 5G devices, which includes smartphones, will also be included in the tests.
The trials were cleared last month, and the government gave the companies two months to procure the right equipment and set up their tests. The tests continue for a total of six months, which includes the period for procurement. This means that the trials will take the rest of 2021, and proper 5G services are expected in India sometime next year.

The company also claims that its new processors can deliver up to 8x faster transcoding and up to double the video editing speed. Manufacturers like Acer, ASUS, MSI and Lenovo are expected to launch new laptops with i5 and i7 processors later this year. Intel has announced two new i7, i5 chips for laptops under its 11th Gen U-series. Manufacturers are expected to launch laptops with the new chips later this year.
The company claims that the new i7, i5 chips offer up to 25 per cent of performance improvements. They are based on the Evo platform. The new 11th generation U-series chips come with support for WiFi 6. Intel claims that the Core i7-1195G7 can clock max at 5GHz with a base clock speed of 2.9GHz. It also supports up to 3200GHz of memory. The Core i5-1155G7, on the other hand, has a base clock speed of 2.5GHz (max turbo boost 4.5GHz on 1-2 cores, 4.3GHz on all cores) while supporting 3200GHz memory. The new chips also feature integrated Iris Xe graphics.
More than 60 laptops are expected to launch later this year with the new processors. Manufacturers like ASUS, Acer, ASUS, MSI and Lenovo are likely to launch new 11th-gen U-series i5 and i7-powered laptops later this year.
Intel also announced a new 5G modem for laptops. Intel’s new 5G Solution 5000 has received the worldwide 5G carrier certification according to Gizmodo. The company expects the new modem to feature in over 30 machines by 2022. It further said that Acer, ASUS, and HP will be among the first manufacturers to offer it in their laptops.

Xiaomi Announces 200W Wired Charging Tech Which Can Charge a 4000mAh Battery in Just 8 Minutes
Xiaomi has unveiled its fastest-ever charging solution. The company has announced its HyperCharge tech, which is currently the fastest in the industry. Xiaomi claims that its new fast-charging solution can charge a device from zero to 100 per cent within eight minutes. The charging tech can also wirelessly charge a device at 120W within 15 minutes. It showed a demo of its charging solution using a custom-built Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro. The device has a 4000 mAh battery that is claimed to charge within eight minutes using wired charging. The company demoed its fast charging solution using a custom-built Mi 11 Pro. The device has a 4000 mAh battery which was charged from zero to 50 per cent in three minutes. It also claims that the super-fast charging tech charges the device completely within eight minutes using the wired charging solution. HyperCharge can also wirelessly charge a device at 120W. The company claims that the new charging solution can charge a 4000 mAh battery within 15 minutes.
There is no word on the commercial release on the new charging tech. The company had previously unveiled a 120W wired and 80W wireless charging solution. However, we are yet to see a commercially available compatible smartphone with charging speeds. The Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11 Pro, and a few other Redmi K40 series smartphones come with support for 67W wired fast charging support.
Unveiling the fast charging solution does not necessarily mean that Xiaomi will launch a device with a 200W charging support. A lot many factors like safety, thermal management, certification, etc., come into play before making the product commercially available in a country. Even if the company does unveil its new HyperCharge tech, we can expect it to see on premium smartphones later this year or early next year.

Samsung Galaxy A03s With Triple Cameras, V-Notch Display Design Renders Leaked: Specifications We Know So Far
Samsung launched the Galaxy A02s smartphone last year in November. The device arrived in India as the Galaxy M02s. Now, it seems like the Korean smartphone maker is prepping up for the launch of the A02s successor, the Galaxy A03s. The specifications and renders of this upcoming handset are revealed exclusively by 91Mobiles. If we have a glance at the renders below, we can see that the phone will sport a water-drop notch display, and it will feature a triple-camera setup at the rear accompanied by a LED flash. The device is tipped to feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and it is also said to incorporate a USB Type-C port, compared to a microUSB port which we saw in the A02s. Speaking about the renders of the A03s first, the device looks more similar to that of the Galaxy A02s. However, this time, Samsung seems to be bringing two significant changes with the A03s. As mentioned above, Samsung is incorporating a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a USB Type-C port for the A03s. Last year, the Galaxy A02s lacked a fingerprint sensor, and it only had a microUSB port for charging. As far as the A03s dimensions are concerned, it is tipped to measure around 166.6 x 75.9 x 9.1mm. Including the rear camera hump, the thickness of the phone is said to be 9.5mm.
The Galaxy A03s is supposed to feature a 6.5-inch display. As mentioned above, the device will have a water-drop notch at the top of the display which will house a selfie camera. In terms of optics, the phone is tipped to feature a 13MP primary main camera and two 2MP cameras at the rear. For selfies and video-calling, the A03s might feature a 5MP camera. The phone will also have a 3.5mm audio jack if we have a closer look at the renders. As of now, the hardware specifications, and battery capacity details of the A03s remain a mystery at the moment.
