Why is Xiaomi increasing the price of its smartphones in India?

Xiaomi, according to a PTI report, will increase the prices of some of its offerings in India starting July 1. The price hike is said to be due to the shortage of components and the supply chain constraints due to the pandemic. The price hike is not just limited to smartphones. Xiaomi said that it will also increase the prices of its smart TVs in India. A Xiaomi spokesperson told PTI that the company has struggled with supply chain constraints since last year. The Chinese tech giant has been experiencing issues in procuring several components that are used in its products.
