Google Chromecast with Google TV was launched a couple of years back and ever since then we are waiting for the 2nd gen or the successor to the same. However, earlier this year, we learnt that Google is planning to launch a new version of the Chromecast with Google TV, which will offer HD streaming capabilities and come with a cheaper price tag.
The long-rumoured Google Chromecast with Google TV HD was spotted on Geekbench a few weeks back and in the past few days, the live image and expected price tag of the cheaper Chromecast with Google TV were also leaked online. Now, Google’s upcoming affordable Chromecast has been spotted on the Bluetooth SIG certification website, hinting at an imminent launch of the device.
New Google Chromecast with Google TV Spotted Bluetooth SIG
On the Bluetooth SIG certification website, the upcoming Google Chromecast has been listed with a G454V model number and the description says it’s an “interactive media streaming device”. The device has been listed under the “Audio and Visual” product category. As for the specifications, it looks like the new cheaper version of Chromecast with Google TV will come with Bluetooth 5.0 support. Apart from that, the website does not reveal more details about this product.
Based on the previous leaks, the upcoming Chromecast from Google is expected to be called Google Chromecast with Google TV HD and this streaming stick is said to offer support for up to Full HD or 1080p streaming. In addition, the device is said to run on the Android 12 TV version. The stick is also tipped to feature support for the AV1 codec, which is a royalty-free codec that enables consumption of significantly lesser bandwidth when streaming content — but without compromising on the quality of video streaming.
The new and upcoming Chromecast is expected to be priced around $30 which is roughly around Rs 2,400. Google is expected to launch the new streaming device on October 6th along with Pixel 7 series smartphones and Pixel smartwatch.
