Apple is facing some brunt due to frequent lockdowns in China. The US tech giant relies heavily on its Chinese suppliers for the manufacturing of the iPhone and other Apple products. While Apple is switching gears and setting up alternative bases for the iPhone 14 production, the company is currently making its Pro iPhones only in China. With frequent lockdowns in the most crucial areas of China, Apple is struggling to keep up with the demand for its iPhone 14 Pro models.
The company said (via) that the shipment of its new premium iPhone models will be lesser than expected following lockdowns in China, which has affected its supply chain. The US tech giant cited COVID-19 restrictions as having temporarily impacted its primary assembly facility located in Zhengzhou, China. Apple said the facility is operating at “significantly reduced capacity.” The company further said that it continues to see strong demand for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models but the lockdowns mean “customers will experience longer wait times to receive their new products,” Apple said.
Deliveries of 14 Pro handsets are currently listed for late November or early December, according to Apple’s website. The Apple India Online Store shows a delivery time of 3-4 weeks for any of the Pro iPhone models, regardless of the choice of colour or storage configuration.
The Pro iPhones are also seeing a huge demand due to the significant upgrades they received over the standard models.
