Redmi Note (2014)
The original Redmi Note was launched in India on July 2014. It was the second smartphone from Redmi in India. It came with a 5.5-inch HD display and was powered by MediaTek MT6592 SoC.
It has a 13MP back camera and a 5MP front camera. It had a battery of 3100mAh. It was priced at Rs 9,999 when it was launched, and the Redmi Note series of smartphones kept the price at under Rs 10,000 for a brief period.
Redmi Note 4G (2014)
The original Redmi Note received an update with a 4G chipset, the Redmi Note 4G. It switched out the Mediatek MT6592 from Redmi Note for Snapdragon 400. It also brought 4G support to the phone.
Besides the chipset, everything else remained the same with Redmi Note 4G. It was priced the same as Redmi Note at Rs 9,999.
Redmi Note Prime (2015)
Redmi Note 2 wasn’t launched in India, but the Redmi Note 4G received another update and was relaunched as Redmi Note Prime in India on December 2015.
It was launched with Snapdragon 410 instead of Snapdragon 400 from Redmi Note 4G. All the other features and specifications of the phone remained the same as Redmi Note 4G. It was launched for Rs. 8,499 in India.
Redmi Note 3 (2016)
Redmi Note made a comeback with Redmi Note 3, after its absence in the Indian market for nearly a year, with the company skipping Redmi Note 2 for the Indian market. It was launched on March 2016.
Redmi made a huge splash in the Indian market, as it was one of the most powerful smartphones in the segment with its Snapdragon 650 SoC.
It also came with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, which was rare in the segment. There was a 16MP back camera and a 5MP front camera. The battery saw an increase to 4,000mAh in this phone.
Redmi Note 4 (2017)
Redmi Note 4 was launched the next year on January 2017. While it did not bring huge changes compared to its predecessor, it was a huge hit in the Indian market. The phone is still one of the most-rated smartphones on Flipkart.
It downgraded from Snapdragon 650 to Snapdragon 625; while many saw it as a disadvantage to the phone, it proved to be a game-changing decision as the Snapdragon 625 proved to be one of the most efficient chipsets in the market at that time.
The smartphone also came with a 5.5-inch Full HD display. It comes with a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP selfie camera. The battery also remained the same at 4000mAh. It was launched at Rs 9999 in India.
Redmi Note 5 Pro (2018)
With the introduction of the Redmi Note 5 Pro on February 2018, the Redmi Note series saw a diversification of the series. It came with a 5.99-inch FHD+ display, and Snapdragon 636 SoC powered it.
Redmi Note 5 Pro introduced a dual camera setup to the Redmi Note series, which was widely criticised for its similarity to the iPhone X camera array on the back. It was a dual camera setup of a 12MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a 20MP selfie camera. In terms of battery, it comes with 4000mAh and supports 18W fast charging.
It was launched for Rs 13,999 in India.
Redmi Note 5 (2018)
Redmi Note 5 was launched along with Redmi Note 5 Pro in India. It did not come with a major upgrade over Redmi Note 4.
Redmi Note 5 came with the same display as the Redmi Note 5 Pro, a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display. Most of the other features remained the same as that of its predecessor.
It was launched at Rs 9999, keeping the starting price of the Redmi Note series still under Rs 10,000.
Redmi Note 6 Pro (2018)
Redmi Note 6 series came with only Redmi Note 6 Pro smartphone; the regular Note 6 didn’t launch in India. It was launched on November 2018.
Redmi Note 6 Pro did what Redmi did to Redmi Note 5. Redmi Note 6 Pro just updated the display of Redmi Note 5 Pro, and the rest of the features remained unchanged. Even the iPhone X-like camera array remained the same. It brought more resemblance to iPhone X with its new 6.26-inch Full HD+ display with a notch.
It was priced at Rs. 13,999, the same as Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Redmi Note 7 Pro (2019)
Redmi Note 7 Pro came with flashy changes to the Redmi Note series. It came with a glass back, which marked a stark change from the metal back. It was launched on February 2019.
It came with a 6.3-inch FHD+ display with a U notch. Snapdragon 675 SoC powered it. It saw the introduction of a high-megapixel camera sensor to the Redmi Note series. It had a dual camera setup of a 48MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. It was backed up by a 4,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.
It was priced at Rs 13,999, the same as the previous Redmi Note Pro.
Redmi Note 7 (2019)
Redmi Note 7 came with the same design and features as that of Redmi Note 7 Pro, but it had the Snapdragon 660 SoC instead of the Snapdragon 675. It also had a 12MP primary camera, rather than the 48MP one. It was priced at Rs 9999, keeping the Redmi Note price under Rs 10,000 in India.
Redmi Note 7S (2019)
Redmi Note 7 was upgraded with a 48MP primary camera and was relaunched as Redmi Note 7s. The rest of the specifications and features remained the same. The price also saw an increase over Redmi Note 7 by Rs 1,000; it was launched at Rs 10,999 when it was launched on May 2019.
Redmi Note 8 Pro (2019)
Redmi Note 8 Pro was launched in October 2019. It saw the switch from the long-standing relationship of Redmi with Qualcomm Snapdragon for its Redmi Note series for Mediatek.
Redmi Note 8 Pro came with Mediatek G90T SoC. It also came with a 6.53-inch Full HD+ display, and it had a quad camera setup of a 64MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP macro sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, there was a 20MP selfie camera. The battery was upgraded to 4500mAh with 18W fast charging. It was launched at Rs 14,999.
