The 2023 Formula 1 season is starting this weekend, and all eyes are on Bahrain GP!
Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen won the 2022 F1 season with one of the most dominant performances by winning 15 out of 22 races. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took the second place, fighting off Sergio Perez of Red Bull Racing. Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton, unfortunately, weren’t part of the championship fight last year. Exceptional performance from Max Verstappen and the support for Sergio Perez meant Red Bull Racing easily won the constructors championship last year after a gap of 9 years.
Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing will be looking to maintain the status quo and keep the drivers and constructors championship with them this year. Meanwhile, Ferrari will look forward to taking the fight to Red Bull Racing with better strategies this time. Mercedes kept improving over the 2022 season and picked up a win by the season’s end; they will also be looking forward to keeping the momentum going. But a new competitor has cropped up in the title fight, Aston Martin and Alonso!
You need to live stream the races to catch all the action in Formula 1. Unfortunately, Formula 1 will not be telecast on TV for this season.
Let’s talk about how to watch Formula 1 in India, what happened with the live telecast on TV, and more in this post.

Formula 1 used to be live-streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. But if you’ve tried to live stream the Formula 1 races by searching for it, you will only find the Formula E races in the search results. Hotstar has also removed the option of Formula 1 under the Sports section in their app and website.

What happened was Formula 1 decided not to renew the TV and streaming rights with Star Sports and Disney+ Hotstar. Autocar India reports that Formula 1 felt the money the networks such as Star and Zee offered for this year’s Formula 1 TV rights was insufficient. Ian Holmes – Director of Media Rights and Content Creation at Formula 1, said, “We looked at the more traditional channels and platforms. Star was one of them. We had discussions with Zee and one or two others too. I want to be candid about this – we felt that the valuation of many of those parties placed on our property wasn’t similar to what we felt it was worth.”
