State-owned telecom operator, BSNL, has announced the launch of another limited period offer in a bid to improve its customer retention. With the slew of offers that all telecom operators have been offering, including Airtel, Idea and Vodafone, in a bid to compete with Reliance Jio, BSNL has finally joined the bandwagon with a range of limited time offers.
Limited Period offer:
The latest limited period offer provided by the public sector company is for prepaid users. Under the offer, the company is providing 2GB of additional mobile data 10 prepaid plans starting at Rs. 186. The plans are valid until 15th of September 2018. This isn’t necessarily a new scheme or offer by BSNL but a continuation of its offer that it launched in June 2018.
At that time the company had launched the additional data offer to counter Reliance Jio’s additional data offer of 1.5GB. Although Reliance Jio’s offer was limited time only, BSNL has both increased the amount of data by 500MB as well as the amount of time this offer is available to the public. The scheme is now available until the mid of next month and has been implemented in all circles across the country.
Plans that will receive the Additional data:
As mentioned earlier, the BSNL plans are Rs 186, Rs 187, Rs 333, Rs 349, Rs 429, Rs 444, Rs 447, Rs 485, Rs 666 and Rs 999 plans. These plans are not only unlimited plans but a few of them are also Single Time Voucher (STV) as well.
The STV plans are the Rs 187, Rs 333, Rs 349, Rs 444 and Rs 447 recharges while the unlimited plans include the Rs 186, Rs 429, Rs 485, Rs 666 and Rs 999 plans. For the above mentioned unlimited recharge plans, the telecom major is offering 1GB of mobile data per data currently, with different validity periods for each plan. However, with the introduction of this special limited time offer, all these unlimited plans will now offer 3GB of mobile data per day without any changes being made in the validity period.
In addition to the mobile data benefits, these plans also offer users with unlimited local and STD voice calls to all telecom operators, without any FUP restriction. However, this facility isn’t available only in the Mumbai and Delhi circles.
With regard to the STV plans the Rs 187, Rs 333, Rs 349, Rs 444 and Rs 447 plans currently offer 1GB of mobile data per day. Now with the limited time offer, they will be providing 3GB of mobile data per day, until the validity of this offer, which is the 15th of September. The STV 444, on the other hand, offers 1.5GB of data per day and will now offer 3.5GB of mobile data per day with this limited time offer. Even all of these STV plans offer users with unlimited local and STD voice calls to any network in India.
Validity of the plan and specifications:
The plan is an extension of a limit period scheme and has now been extended up to 15th September. This means that users who currently subscribe to these plans will lose the added benefit of mobile data, even if their base plan’s validity extends beyond 15th September 2018. Beyond this, the daily data limit will be downgraded to the base pack’s data specification. Although the limited time offer is a cause for excitement the company’s limitation in terms of 4G services mean that users can only avail of this additional benefit under 3G only.
