Earlier this month, Huawei sub-brand Honor announced a new color variant for the 8X model: Dream Purple. The Dream Purple version went on sale in China on October 16 at 10:08 AM and got a good response from native consumers. To enhance the appeal of its latest budget Android phablet, the company has now launched yet another new color option: Mirage Blue. It is not a brand new color though. The Mirage Blue shade, also called Phantom Blue in some markets, made its debut with the flagship Honor 10 (review) smartphone earlier this year.
Honor 8X Mirage Blue Variant Announced in China, Sale Date Yet to be Confirmed
The new Mirage Blue color variant of the Honor 8X was announced in China by Xiong Junmin, Vice President of Honor. However, the company is yet to confirm a sale date for the new color variant. As for pricing, the Mirage Blue color is expected to be available at a starting price of 1,399 yuan (INR 14,700 approx.) in China, just like the existing color variants. The Honor 8X is currently available in Black, Blue, Red, and Purple colors in China. In India, however, Honor currently offers the 8X in only two colors: Black and Blue. We can only hope that the smartphone model will be available in the gradient Mirage Blue shade in India as well. The Purple color option, on the other hand, will likely remain exclusive to China.
Honor 8X Among the Most Impressive Budget Phablets Released in 2018
The Honor 8X is arguably one of the best budget-friendly phablets launched this year. It sports a large 6.5-inch display with Full HD+ resolution, which makes it a an apt choice for consumption of visual material on the device. However, thanks to the COF (Coefficient of friction) packaging process, the Honor 8X has an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 91%. The high screen-to-body ratio makes the phablet a lot more compact than its screen size would suggest. It measures 160.4 x 76.6 x 7.8mm and weighs 175 grams.
When it comes to design, the Honor 8X boasts a glass body with an anti-glare film and visual effects. In addition to multimedia, the Honor 8X is a great phablet for gaming as well, thanks to GPU Turbo technology. It runs on HiSilicon’s latest 12nm mid-range Kirin 710 octa-core processor clocked at up to 2.2 GHz with an ARM Mali-G51 MP4 GPU.
In India, the Honor 8X is priced at INR 14,999 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, while the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage version costs INR 16,999. Since Xiaomi is yet to launch the Mi Max 3 in India, the Honor 8X has no real rival as of now. If you love phablets and have a budget of around INR 15,000, it is a no-brainer to get the Honor 8X. In terms of optics as well, the Honor 8X is quite impressive with a 20MP + 2MP dual-camera setup at the rear. In addition to features like AI multi-scene recognition and AI beauty effect, the Honor 8X also offers Super Slow-motion video capture at 480fps. For selfies, the smartphone features a 16MP resolution front camera with 4-in-1 Light Fusion technology. In terms of battery life, the Honor 8X is a decent performer, thanks to a 3750mAh capacity battery with an intelligent battery-saving system. The device, however, does not support fast charging.
