Idea, like its counterparts, is busy unifying its prepaid tariff plans. In the bid for the same, the company introduced 3 new prepaid recharge plans recently. The recently introduced prepaid plans all offer 1.5GB of data daily. These new plans are priced at Rs.529, Rs.479, and Rs.209. They are priced similarly to Vodafone India’s just launched prepaid plans. Idea Cellular and Vodafone India are merging their tariff plans to bring them under the same price band.
The Three New Prepaid Plans
Idea Cellular has just unveiled three new prepaid recharge plans. They are priced at Rs.209, Rs.479, and Rs.529. Both Idea and Vodafone are streamlining their tariff portfolios to bring a unified menu under Vodafone Idea.
Though the new prepaid plans offer the same data benefit of 1.5GB of data daily to its subscribers, their validity differs according to their prices, with the Rs.529 prepaid plan offering the longest.
The Rs.209 plan offers 1.5GB data benefit daily for a period of 28 days. Along with that, the plan also offers unlimited voice calls locally or nationwide and 100 SMS a day. The Rs.479 prepaid plan offers similar data, voice calls, and SMS benefits for 84 days. The Rs.529 plan also offers the same benefits but for 90 days.
The only exception is the fact that Idea Cellular voice call benefits are not really unlimited.

Limitations to the New Prepaid Plans
All of Idea Cellular prepaid plans come with conditions on their voice calling benefit. The newly launched prepaid plans offering 1.5GB of data daily are no exception to this. The daily outgoing calls have been capped at 250 minutes. While the cumulative limit placed on the outgoing call minutes is 1000. Beyond the stipulated minutes, the calls will be charged at 1p per second.
Besides the cap placed on daily and weekly calling minutes, the telco has also placed charges on data usage. If a subscriber exceeds his daily data limit of 1.5GB he will then be charged 4p for every 10GB of usage.
The Similarly Priced Prepaid Plans of Idea Cellular and Vodafone India
Vodafone India launched Rs.209, Rs.479, and Rs.529 prepaid plans in its operational circles in August. With Idea Cellular doing the same now, unifies these particular three tariff plans for Vodafone Idea. also, now Vodafone Idea offers prepaid plans that provide 1.5GB of data daily.
In the coming few weeks, Idea Cellular is expected to also launch more prepaid plans priced at Rs.799, Rs.569, and Rs.511. These plans will add to the effort the two recently merged telcos are making to unify their tariff portfolio under the Vodafone Idea umbrella.
Idea Cellular 1.4GB of Daily Data Plans vs Idea Cellular 1.5GB of Daily Data Plans
With the launch of new daily data prepaid plans of 1.5GB, one would expect Idea Cellular to retire its existing daily data prepaid plans of 1.4GB. But Idea Cellular has behaved contrary to belief and is allowing these prepaid plans to coexist with the newly launched prepaid plans.
Idea Cellular has 5 prepaid plans offering 1.4GB of daily data priced at Rs.509, Rs.448, Rs.399, Rs.227, and Rs.199 as against the 3 prepaid plans offering 1.5GB of daily data. Also, all the prepaid plans of Idea Cellular are non-segmented plans. Interestingly, Bharti Airtel has yet to launch a plan similar to this.
