Vivo X23 Star Editon Launched in China; Here’s How It is Different from Vivo NEX Star Version

The Vivo X23 is a successor of one of the very first phones with an on-screen fingerprint reader. The X23 was announced in early September in China in Phantom Purple, Phantom Red and Midnight Blue colours. Now, with every other OEM hopping on the glossy gradient paint jobs these days, Vivo has also announced a new gradient shade called Vivo X23 Star Version. Well, at least the translation seems to be referring it as the Star version while some in the Chinese media are also calling as Star Mans version. The Vivo X23 is alredy available to purchase for potential buyers in the country. The Vivo X23 comes in a 8GB + 128GB version

This isn’t just a typical gradient colour, it is quite different from what we’ve used to seeing of the gradient variety. The Vivo X23 Star Version is basically a Red coloured device with streaks of other contrasting colours running through the middle in vertical lines. Besides the colour change, you won’t find much of a difference in the design of the Vivo X23. The handset was also originally launched in Magic Night Blue and Orange colours.

Vivo X23 Star Version Vs Vivo NEX Star Version

The Vivo X23 Star Version brings to mind the Vivo NEX Star version that was launched in late September. It also bears a similar patterned back that is on the X23 albeit with a different shade. The NEX Star version comes with a blue-violet gradient colour which portrays a meteor shower at night. The streak of contrasting lines on both devices are created with a nano-scale high-precision laser engraving proces so that when light hits the back, it creates thousands of illusion diffraction units giving the smartphone a very unique look. Apart from that both handsets are completely different from the inside.

The Vivo NEX is a flagship handset from the company and is packed with some innovative stuff like the pop-up camera which is probably the world’s first on an device. This mechanism allowed Vivo to install an almost bezel-free screen on the front embedded with an on-screen fingerprint sensor. It also rocks the Snapdragon 845 SoC, Vivo’s Jovi Assistant, and a host of great features.

Vivo X23 Star Edition Specifications and Features

As far as the internal hardware is concerned, the Vivo X23 is a premium mid-range device that boasts the latest octa-core Snapdragon 670 SoC clocked at 2GHz. The front display has the water-drop cutout and the AMOLED screen measures 6.41-inches on the diagonal. It has a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340p and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

In terms of photography, the handset offers a dual rear camera of which the primary sensor is a 12MP lens and the secondary sensor is a 13MP secondary Sony IMX363 sensor which has an ultra-wide angle of 125-degrees. There’s a 3,400mAh battery powering all that with Android Oreo topped by FunTouch OS 4.5 running the show. The Vivo X23 also has Vivo’s own version of GPU Turbo called Dual-Turbo Engine, Jovi Assistant, and fast charging as well. Vivo’s X23 Star Version features the fourth generation of on-screen fingerprint readers which the company claims unlocks the handset in just 0.35s.

This is the sixth colour variant that Vivo has announced for the Vivo X23. The handset will cost 3498 Yuan which is what all other variants also cost right now. So, that’s a good new feature without any additional cost as the Red colour turns a lot of heads.
