Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 Receives New MIUI 10 Beta Update that Focuses Bug Fixes, Stability Improvements

In a bid to increase screen real estate without resorting to a notch, Xiaomi recently unveiled a smartphone with a sliding camera mechanism. The Snapdragon 845-fueled Mi Mix 3 has been launched with MIUI 10 and Android 9 Pie out of the gate. And within days of its launch, the phone has already received the new MIUI 10 Beta update that comes with some system optimizations and bug improvements. The update has started rolling out and can be downloaded from MIUI forums.

MIUI 10 8.10.25 Beta Fixes Bugs

Xiaomi had already uploaded a preview changelog of the update a few days ago, and now the company has shared the full changelog. The latest update largely focuses on ironing out bugs. First of all, users had complained that Mi Cloud Backup has stopped working since the last ROM update (8.9.20). Previous backups became inaccessible and users could not generate new backups. This issue has now been fixed.

The notification bar was not showing the Mi store icon, and Mi Music controls, such as pause or next or previous audio were also not being displayed on the lock screen. These issues have now been addressed. Another issue that inadvertently came with the MIUI 10 Beta update was overlapping texts in device options. The problem has now been taken care of. Lastly, when back was pressed multiple times, selected contacts were unchecked automatically. This will not happen after you get the new update.

If you want to upgrade to MIUI 10, make sure you backup your data first. In case your device runs MIUI 7, MIUI 8, or MIUI 9 stable ROM, upgrade to MIUI 10 using the fastboot method. If you are using MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM, you can just go to ‘Updater’ and look for updates.

MIUI 10 Beta Features

The MIUI 10 was announced in summer and Xiaomi has strived for fast performance with the new update, with other areas of interest being sound, design, and AI portraits. With MIUI 10, Xiaomi has completely overhauled its software and put in a lot of optimizations. Background activity management, deep sleep recovery, launch speed, Wi-Fi, cache management, and a couple of other things have been optimized to increase speed.

Since the MIUI 10 has been made for bezel-less phones, it has a gesture-based navigation system, and the recents screen has also been updated to make the most of the full display. Additionally, the notification panel has been re-designed for the same purpose and visual clutter has been removed. Apart from that, the MIUI 10 offers new system sounds and ambient noises. The new MIUI 10 will also make it possible for you to take portrait photos even if you have a single-lens camera on your smartphone.

Mi Mix 3 Amongst The Handful Of Devices Running Android Pie

Android 9.0 Pie, which offers improved security features and a gesture-based navigation system, is apparently suffering from fragmentation issue as it is not listed in the recently released OS version market share chart for the month of October. Android Oreo continues to grow, while Android Nougat is still the most popular version of Android. Android Pie is currently said to be running on less than 0.1 percent of Android smartphones, including the newly released Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the Sony Xperia XZ3, and most Android One devices haven’t even received the update yet. The major issue lies with the OEMs who are not quick enough to work on updates and make them available for their devices.

Here is how the MIUI 10 makes things easier for you:
