Apple iPod Touch With A10 Fusion Processor, iOS 12, Group FaceTime, and AR Features

Apple iPod Touch 2019

Design-wise, the new iPod Touch harks back to the design language of Apple’s older iPhones such as the iPhone 6S. It features a physical home button and has curved edges too. The new iPod Touch has a 4-inch widescreen Multi-Touch IPS display (1136×640 pixels resolution) with Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating. Apple’s A10 Fusion processor powers the device with iOS 12 on the software front. Connectivity support onboard include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS. It also has Apple’s virtual assistant Siri onboard.

For optics, the iPod Touch has an 8MP rear camera with f/2.4 aperture, Auto image stabilization, HDR for photos, Burst mode, and more. On the front, it has a 1.2MP FaceTime HD camera with f/2.2 aperture, 720p HD video recording, and more. Apple also confirms that the A10 Fusion processor enables “immersive augmented reality (AR) experiences and Group FaceTime.” on the iPod Touch.

The iPod Touch supports audio formats such as AAC-LC, HE-AAC, HE-AAC v2, Protected AAC, MP3, Linear PCM, Apple Lossless, FLAC, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Audible formats, and more. Video formats supported by the device include HEVC, H.264, MPEG-4 Part 2, and Motion JPEG AirPlay Mirroring, photos, and Video out to Apple TV (2nd gen or later), Video mirroring and video out support up to 1080p through Lightning Digital AV Adapter and Lightning to VGA Adapter.

It would be interesting to see how the latest iPod Touch performs in the market. Nowadays, smartphones are well equipped with premium audio support. In such times, getting a standalone device like iPod Touch does not make sense for a majority of consumers. A buyer may opt for the Apple iPhone 6S instead as it can offer more functionality to the user without compromising much on the budget.
