Samsung Galaxy M40 Camera Specifications, Render Leaked Ahead of Launch on June 11

Samsung confirmed earlier this week that the Galaxy M40 will be launched in the Indian market on June 11. A dedicated landing page for the smartphone is now live on the company’s official website for India, confirming some of its key features. More details regarding the camera hardware of the Galaxy M40 have now surfaced online, courtesy of an exclusive report from 91Mobiles. A render of the smartphone has also been leaked online, giving us a clear look at its design.

Samsung Galaxy M40 Will Have a 32MP Triple Camera Setup

Speaking to 91Mobiles, Asim Warsi, Senior Vice President of the smartphone business at Samsung India revealed that the company’s upcoming Galaxy M40 will be equipped with a 32-megapixel primary sensor. As can be seen in the leaked render above, the smartphone will have two additional camera sensors on the back. Unfortunately, the resolution of the two other camera sensors was not revealed by the company executive.

On the front, the Samsung Galaxy M40 will come equipped with a 16MP resolution sensor for taking selfies. Unlike the other M-series smartphones launched by Samsung so far, the Galaxy M40 will not have a U- or V-shaped notch at the top of the display. Instead, it will feature a punch-hole cutout in the display, just like the Galaxy A60 and Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S10 series. Apart from shedding light on the Galaxy M40’s camera hardware, Warsi also mentioned that the “flagship-category” M-series phone will be priced somewhere around INR 20,000 in the country.

Samsung Galaxy M40 Will Launch in India on June 11

As mentioned earlier, the Samsung Galaxy M40 will be formally launched in India on June 11 at 6 PM in India. The smartphone will only be sold online, just like the three Galaxy M-series smartphones launched earlier this year. It will be available via both Amazon.in as well as the Samsung eStore.

In terms of specifications, the Galaxy M40 is expected to feature a 6.3-inch Infinity-O Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD+ resolution. While Samsung has only confirmed that the Galaxy M40 will have a Snapdragon 6 series chipset under the hood, rumors suggest it will run on an 11nm Snapdragon 675 chipset. This means the Galaxy M40 will be a massive upgrade over the other M-series phones in terms of performance. However, the same chipset powers the Redmi Note 7 Pro (review), which starts at INR 13,999 in India. In terms of memory, the Galaxy M40 is likely to come in a single configuration featuring 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The phone will ship with Samsung’s latest One UI based on Android 9.0 Pie. Fueling the M-series smartphone could be a 5000mAh battery with 15W fast charging support.
