OPPO Reno 10x Zoom vs Samsung Galaxy S10e vs OnePlus 7 Pro: Price in India, Specifications and Features Compared

It’s been just two days since OPPO launched its new ‘affordable flagship’ devices, the OPPO Reno and the OPPO Reno 10X Zoom in the country. The launch of these devices comes just days after two other devices – the OnePlus 7 Pro and the ASUS Zenfone 6 – saw their respective official global announcements. While ASUS remains mum on the launch dates and pricing details for the Zenfone 6 in India, we know that the Reno 10x Zoom and the Oneplus 7 Pro are both priced around INR 50,000 here in India. This price tag essentially puts both these devices directly in competition with the Samsung Galaxy S10e – the ‘affordable flagship’ smartphone from the house of Samsung. This is precisely why we felt that a detailed specs comparison article talking about the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom, the OnePlus 7 Pro, and the Samsung Galaxy S10e is a necessity.

Let us now dive deeper, shall we?

OPPO Reno 10x Zoom vs. Samsung Galaxy S10e vs. OnePlus 7 Pro: Specifications, Price in India

All three devices in this comparison use flagship grade hardware. While the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom and the OnePlus 7 Pro use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, the desi iteration of the Samsung Galaxy S10e uses Exynos 9820 chipset. The Reno is offered in 6GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB variants in India while the OnePlus 7 Pro comes in 6GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 12GB+256GB variants. The Samsung Galaxy S10e comes in a single 6GB+128GB version in India.

Moving on to the display, all three devices in this comparison get an AMOLED panel. The 5.8-inch panel on the Galaxy S10e is the smallest of the three while the Reno and the OnePlus devices get a 6.6-inch panel. The OnePlus 7 Pro, however, has the highest display resolution among the three (1440 x 3120 pixels) as opposed to 1080 x 2340 pixels on the Reno 10x Zoom, and 1080 x 2280 pixels on the Galaxy S10e. The OnePlus 7 Pro and the Samsung S10e support HDR10+ content while the Reno skimps on this feature. The OnePlus is also the only handset to feature a 90Hz refresh rate for its panel. While all the devices get enough internal storage, the OnePlus is the only one in this list NOT to get a microSD card slot.

The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom and the OnePlus 7 Pro have near identical battery capacity figures (4,065 mAh and 4,000 mAh, respectively). Being the smallest of the lot, the Galaxy S10e gets by with a 3,100 mAh battery. All three devices support fast charging. The OnePlus 7 Pro is the clear leader here with its 30W warp charge while the Reno comes in second place with its 20W VOOC Flash Charge. The Galaxy S10e ships with a 15W fast charger.

OPPO Reno 10x Zoom vs. Samsung Galaxy S10e vs. OnePlus 7 Pro: Camera Specifications Compared

As far as the camera department is concerned, both the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom and the OnePlus 7 Pro have excellent hardware. Both these devices get a triple camera setup at the rear and a pop-up front facing camera. The pop-up mechanism on the Reno, however, is the cooler of the two thanks to the shark-fin design.

The primary camera on both the handsets use a 48-megapixel sensor with support for PDAF and OIS. The primary rear camera of the Samsung Galaxy S10e uses a 12-megapixel sensor. While the Samsung might seem to have the ‘inferior’ sensor among the three, do note that all the three devices default to 12-megapixel resolution for daily use. The Samsung also has a wider aperture (f/1.5) among the three. Moving on to the secondary camera, the Reno gets a 13-megapixel f/3.0 telephoto camera here with a periscope style lens arrangement. The OnePlus 6 gets an 8-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto camera. The third camera on the Reno is an 8-megapixel, f/2.2, 16mm ultrawide unit. The OnePlus 7 Pro, on the other hand, gets a wider 13mm lens with a 16-megapixel sensor.

The front-facing camera on the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom and the OnePlus 7 Pro use a 16-megapixel, f/2.0 unit while the Galaxy S10 gets by with a 10-megapixel f/1.9 sensor-lens arrangement.

OPPO Reno 10x Zoom vs. Samsung Galaxy S10e vs. OnePlus 7 Pro: Price in India, Verdict

The OPPO Reno10x Zoom is the most affordable of the trio with the price of its base variant starting at IN3 39,990. The 8GB+256GB version will set you back by INR 49,990. As for the OnePlus 7 Pro, the cheapest option you have here is the 6GB+ 128GB variant that starts at INR 48,999 – making it almost as pricey as the top-end Reno. Then we have the 8GB+256GB variant of the OnePlus 7 Pro that retails for INR 52,999 and the flagship 12GB+256GB option going for INR 57,999. The Galaxy S10e comes in a single 6GB+128GB option that until recently was priced at INR 55,900 which is almost as expensive as the top end OnePlus Pro. However, the device is now available for INR 50,900 on Amazon at the time of posting this article.

So, which of these three should you spend your money on?

The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom makes a compelling case for itself thanks to its excellent pricing. A price tag of under 40k for all the features it has on offer makes it an excellent buy if you are on a tight budget. And it’s not as if you lose out on any major features here. The camera setup on the Reno is as good as, if not better than the one on the OnePlus 7 Pro. Even the software has improved a lot with ColorOS 6. And do not forget that you get a microSD card slot on the Reno – something the OnePlus 7 Pro lacks.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is undoubtedly the performance king among the three with its super fast Oxygen OS and the excellent 90 Hz display. There have been several complaints when it comes to the camera and the image quality, though. That said, it is only a matter of time before OnePlus fixes these with software updates. If you are a spec hound, you should just close your eyes and get the top-end OnePlus 7 Pro variant, and it should keep you happy for the next three years.

The Galaxy S10e, with its Exynos chipset, is undoubtedly not going to win a performance battle with the other two devices in this list. What it does offer, however, is a refined software experience and very consistent camera performance. It is also the smallest of the three, which makes it easier to use. It is also the only one in this list to feature IP68 ingress protection.

If I were to choose one device among these three, I would opt for the base version of the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom simply because it is almost as good as the other two devices for a much lesser price tag. Which of these three devices would you select based on what you have read so far?
