Redmi Note 9 First Sale Today at 12 Noon on Amazon India: Three Reasons Why You Should Buy It

Three months following its international launch and just four days after its India announcement, the new Redmi Note 9 from Xiaomi is set to go on sale starting today. As already revealed in our launch article, the first sale for the device will go live at 12 noon today via Amazon and Mi.com. In case you are looking to buy a brand new handset priced between the psychologically important Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000 price range, here are three reasons you might want to consider the Redmi Note 9.

Massive Battery capacity with 22.5W charger in the box

Redmi Note 9 battery

The Redmi Note 9 features a massive 5020 mAh battery that will be more than capable of powering the phone through an entire day of usage. With Xiaomi’s software optimizations, the phone is quite frugal when it comes to battery consumption. That being said, there has been a mild controversy about the actual speed at which the battery can be charged. As of now, even with the 22.5W charger, the phone can only be charged at 18W. Xiaomi, however, has confirmed that they will release a software update soon, which will remove this restriction. Users will then be able to enjoy the full 22.5W fast charging feature on the Redmi Note 9, the company confirmed.

48MP AI Quad Camera setup

There is no getting around the fact that Redmi’s budget handsets have always been known for their excellent cameras. The Redmi Note 9 is no exception here. This phone features a quad camera setup at the rear consisting of a 48MP primary camera that uses a 1/1.7″CMOS image sensor, with an f/1.7 lens. The secondary camera uses an 8MP sensor and is mated to an ultra-wide-angle lens that has f/2.2 aperture and a FOV of 118.2 degrees. The two other cameras use 2MP sensors for macro and depth sensing, respectively. The phone is also quite adept at taking selfies thanks to the 13MP selfie camera. Both the front and rear cameras feature a plethora of AI features designed to make photography easier and less challenging.

Powerful gaming-oriented processor

Redmi Note 9 Gaming

While everyone would have liked to see Xiaomi use a Qualcomm 7XX processor on the Redmi Note 9, the Mediatek Helio G85 SoC is quite a decent SoC. The Helio G85 can be considered a minor update to the Helio G80 SoC with a few optimizations thrown around. It is based on a 12nm manufacturing process and houses an octa-core processor with two ARM Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz, and 6 ARM Cortex-A55 clocked at 1.8 GHz. The GPU sees an upgrade as well and uses the ARM Mali G52 MC2 chip here.

Other features of the Redmi Note 9 include the large 6.53-inch FHD+ display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, a triple SIM slot, and support for a host of wireless connectivity options. However, let us now come to the most crucial aspect of the phone: Its pricing.
