Samsung Galaxy M51 India Launch Date Set for September 10, to Go on Sale Via Amazon

Samsung is readying the launch of a new mid-range handset from its popular M series lineup very soon. The new M series device from the Korean smartphone major – as you might be already aware – is the new Samsung Galaxy M51. As evident from its naming scheme, the Galaxy M51 will almost certainly be positioned above the existing M3Xx lineup — including the just-launched Samsung Galaxy M31s. In the past few days, thanks to multiple leaks, we sort of know most of the hardware specifications of the phone. The reason you’re reading this article now, though, is because the Galaxy M50 has – for the first time – made an appearance on Amazon.in in the form of a landing page and launch teaser.

As evident from the images below, Samsung seems to have finally let go of the ‘Monster’ hashtag for the M series. In its place, however, we now have something else – ‘Meanest.’ The launch teasers talk about the ‘mean’ features of the Samsung Galaxy M51 that include a ‘meanest battery,’ ‘meanest processor,’ ‘meanest camera,’ and the ‘meanest display.’

Take a look at some of the posters below.

Samsung Galaxy M51 launch posters

Samsung Galaxy M51 Specifications expected price

Thanks to previous leaks, we already know that the Samsung Galaxy M51 is likely to come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC. This, however, is yet to be confirmed by the company. What we do know for sure is that it will undoubtedly feature a Qualcomm SoC.  While we expect the Galaxy M51 to be made available in multiple storage/RAM options, there will definitely be a 6GB +128GB variant. All the variants will feature microSD card and dual SIM support.

The display on the Samsung Galaxy M51 is expected to be a Super AMOLED panel that measures 6.7-inches across with FHD+ resolution. It is expected to retain a standard 60Hz refresh rate and will also get an Infinity O pUnch hole for the 32MP selfie camera. The rear camera setup on the phone is likely to include a 64MP F/1.8 primary camera, a 12MP f/2.2 secondary ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera, and another 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor

The Samsung Galaxy M51 is also expected to feature a massive 7,000mAh battery, with support for up to 25W of fast charging over a USB Type-C charging port. Expect really long charging times for this one – even with the supplied fast charger! Anyway, we can expect Samsung to share more confirmed details about the Samsung Galaxy M51 as the launch date of September 10 inches closer.

Tecno Camon 16 Series Smartphone with 48MP Dual Selfie Cameras to Launch on September 3

It was just a day ago that we posted an article talking about the imminent launch of a new budget smartphone from Tecno called the Spark Go here in India. The Transsion Holdings-owned company, however, has bigger plans and has already begun teasing the features of another new device for the international market. The new smartphone from the company is from their popular ‘Camon’ lineup of budget camera-centric devices and is called the Tecno Camon 16. We are given to understand that the Tecno Camon 16 lineup will feature multiple smartphone models. The company has already started promoting a YouTube Live streaming link that will begin broadcasting the launch event live on September 3, 2020. While Tecno is yet to confirm if this smartphone will make it to India, chances are high it will. Other key markets for the brand include Nigeria, Pakistan, and several other southeast Asian countries.

Let us now take a look at the expected specifications of the Tecno Camon 16

Tecno Camon 16: Expected specifications

TECNO CAMON 16 Premier

From what is currently known, the flagship model from the Tecno 16 lineup will feature a massive 6.9-inch LCD display. The display is also expected to house a twin dot notch for the dual selfie cameras with the primary front-facing camera capable of 48MP resolution. At the rear, the phone will likely feature a quad-camera setup with the primary camera using a 64MP sensor. This is a significant upgrade over its predecessor (Camon 15), which came with a 48MP primary rear camera. The Tecno Camon 16, being a camera-centric phone, is also likely to feature an ultra night portrait mode and a super video mode. It is also expected that the phone will come with decent slow-motion capabilities. Also known is the fact that it will feature support for 33W fast charging technology. The battery capacity, however, is yet to be revealed.

Most of the design elements and the hardware features of the Tecno Camon 16 remain under wraps for the time being. We still, for example, do not know what processor this new handset is slated to use. Anyway, we need not wait too long for these details to be revealed, though, since the phone will be officially launched just two days from now.

Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro with 108MP Camera, Snapdragon 865 SoC Tipped to Launch in India for Around Rs 35,000

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch a new flagship smartphone in India, which could be Mi 10T Pro if popular tipster Ishan Agarwal is anything to go. The tipster tweeted that the handset will debut in the country with Snapdragon 865 SoC, 108MP cameras, and 144Hz refresh rate screen. To recall, these are the same specifications that are rumoured on Mi 10T Pro as well. The latter is expected to launch globally soon, alongside the standard Mi 10T. Interestingly, the Indian variants of both Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10T have also been spotted on Xiaomi’s camera app with “apollo pro” and “apollo” codenames, respectively.

While Xiaomi is yet to officially confirm the development, the Mi 10T Pro, if launched in India, is said to be priced around Rs 35,000. This would be cheaper than the Mi 10 smartphone that was launched in India a few months back, with a starting price of Rs 49,999. The phone also rocks Snapdragon 865 SoC and 108MP cameras but has 90Hz refresh rate as opposed the 144Hz rumoured on Mi 10T Pro.

Mi 10T Pro specifications (expected)

Talking about the Mi 10T Pro specifications, the handset will reportedly tout a punch-hole screen with 144Hz refresh rate. The phone could be fueled by 5,000mAh battery and rock standard Snapdragon 865 SoC instead of the newer Snapdragon 865+ SoC. Around the back, the Mi 10T Pro is rumoured to sport triple camera setup in a rectangular module that may comprise 108MP primary sensor. The handset is likely to support dual-SIM and run Android 10-based MIUI 12 out of the box.

The alleged images of Mi 10 Pro reveal that it may sport a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security. Expect at least two colour options for the phone: blue and silver. That’s all the information we can divulge at the moment. There is no word on the vanilla Mi 10T’s specifications just yet.

Tata Sky launches new broadband plan with 500GB data per month, heres how it compares to Airtel and JioFiber

In 2020, one of the most important things to have at home is a good internet connection. With students attending classes from home and more and more people working from home, users' reliance on the internet has gone up considerably. A lot of service providers have launched affordable plans for those looking to upgrade their internet connection. If you are looking for an unlimited broadband plan, you can check out our list of best-unlimited broadband plans here. Today however, we are talking about a plan that brings with it a high speed of 300 Mbps. The plan on offer is from Tata Sky and is available in a fixed GB plan as well as an unlimited data plan. Let’s take a look at the plan in detail and see how it compares to other competing services.

Tata Sky 300 Mbps Plan details

The Tata Sky 300 Mbps speed plan is available in a bunch of cities in both its unlimited data and limited data avatar. The price of the 300 Mbps unlimited plan is set to Rs 1,900 per month, or Rs 5,400 quarterly, or Rs 9,720 for 6 months and Rs 18,360 annually. These prices are excluding GST. Despite being classified as an unlimited plan, Tata Sky’s website reads, “For Unlimited Data plans, speed will reduce to 3 Mbps after 3300 GB data consumption for 300 Mbps plan and 1500 GB data for other Unlimited Data plans” Also please note that if you are interested in the 300 Mbps plan, the Tata Sky website says, “300 Mbps plan is available in selected areas and is subject to technical feasibility.”

Tata Sky Broadband offers users 300Mbps plan.

If you don't want unlimited data then you can consider getting 300 Mbps with limited monthly data. The data limit for 300 Mbps is 500GB per month. After 500GB the speed drops to 3 Mbps. The monthly price for this plan is Rs 1470 per month, Rs 4200 quarterly, 7560 half-yearly, and Rs 14280 annually. With the limited data of 500GB per month, users also get data rollover.

If you are fortunate enough to have multiple service providers in your area offering broadband, then here is a look at some other internet providers with a 300 Mbps plan or a plan that’s close to it.

Airtel 300 Mbps Plan details

Airtel likes to keep it simple. If you want unlimited data, then add Rs 299 to your current plan and the data cap is removed. Airtel also offers 300 Mbps speed and it is priced at Rs 1499 per month and offers 500GB of data. This is quite close to the Rs 1470 price of the Tata Sky 300 Mbps broadband plan.

In addition to 300 Mbps speed, the Airtel plan also gives users Amazon Prime Video and Airtel Xstream services.

JioFiber 250 Mbps Plan details

Jio doesn’t have a 300 Mbps plan but it does have a 250 Mbps plan. The 250 Mbps JioFiber plan has a data limit of up to 1750GB. Let’s break that down. The plan gives users 500GB of data and is offering an additional 500GB data (double data) as a part of the lockdown. Users also get introductory data of 250GB. If you decide to pay annually, you get an additional 500GB. However, one should note that at 250 Mbps, JioFiber also gives users 500GB data per month. After the FUP, the speed drops to 1 Mbps speed.

The JioFiber 250 Mbps plan also includes subscriptions to OTT services if the user pays quarterly, half-yearly or annually.

Former OnePlus employee reveals company is actively looking to launch a smartwatch

OnePlus could be on the road to launch its first smartwatch very soon. A report recently surfaced that reveals a listing on Indonesia's IMDA (Infocomm Media Development Authority) certification site. Now, a new report quoting a former OnePlus employee confirms that the company has "actively been looking into a smartwatch for the last year."

Rumours suggest that the watch could be called the "OnePlus Watch". The listing carries the model number W201GB, which is, unfortunately, the only detail we have on the smartwatch. But its appearance on the list hints that the company might launch it alongside the OnePlus 8T.

As spotted by 91Mobiles, the listing reveals that the "OnePlus Watch" is a 'low-power, short-range device' and description says it is a 'wearable watch'. Adding to the report, TechRadar exclusively learned from a former OnePlus employee that the company is considering a smartwatch for a while.

It's not the first time when the OnePlus is speculated to getting into the wearable category with a smartwatch. Back in 2015, OnePlus shared its plans on developing its own smartwatch but it looks like the company has finally made it possible after five years. In 2016, CEO Pete Lau also said that they've completed the design of the smartwatch, but decided to dump it as they wanted to focus on smartphones. Lau wanted OnePlus to avoid being crushed in the 'cruel' wearable market. He said almost all mainstream OEMs had released a smartwatch in different markets, and adding one more would weaken the otherwise solid lineup of OnePlus products.

It is speculated that the company's smartwatch could debut alongside the upcoming phones - OnePlus 8T and 8T Pro somewhere around September.

OnePlus Buds truly wireless is the latest addition to its audio portfolio

OnePlus is more than a smartphone company

OnePlus has been in the market for more than five years, where it started with smartphones but slowly ventured into more categories like audio and televisions with OnePlus Bullets headphones and OnePlus TV Q1 series. While the audio category has flourished over the years, the first TV was launched last year, and the company followed up with three new affordable TVs within a year. With the new wearable added to the list, the company will have an even wider variety of products in its portfolio, which is assumed to grow over the years.

It currently has five audio products in the portfolio - Type-C Bullets Earphones, Bullets Wireless and Bullets Wireless 2, Bullets Wireless Z and truly wireless OnePlus Buds. In the TV category, it has OnePlus TV Q1, Q1 Pro, 43Y1, 32Y1, and 55U1.

Recently, another rumour hinted of an entry-level OnePlus smartphone later this year. You can read more about it here.

Redmi Note 9 Pro to Get MIUI 12 Update in September, Says Xiaomi Official

Xiaomi’s Redmi launched the Redmi Note 9 Pro series including Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max in the country back in March, the devices run Android 10 based MIUI 11 as of now. Earlier this month, the company had announced the MIUI 12 Global Stable roll-out schedule for India. As per the official schedule, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Series was expected to receive MIUI 12 update this month itself but it didn’t happen yet. MIUI 12 has a major focus on Privacy, Security, and Multitasking and comes with all brand-new design, Animations, an all-new Dark Mode 1.0, and comes with innovative features such as Floating Window, Enhanced Privacy Protection features, and new Control Center.

Now, a new report by PiunikaWeb suggests that the Redmi Note 9 Pro will now receive MIUI 12 update next month, i.e. September. PiunikaWeb spotted a tweet by Xiaomi Indonesia General Manager, Alvin Tse in which he shed some light on the matter. In response to a user query on Twitter, Alvin replied that the Redmi Note 9 Pro will receive MIUI 12 update in September.

Though, there is a catch that Redmi Note 9 Pro variant launched in Indonesia isn’t the same as the one launched in India. Redmi Note 9 Pro launched in Indonesia features a 64MP quad rear camera setup compared to the 48MP quad rear camera setup on the Indian variant. Another change on Redmi note 9 Indonesia variant is in the charging department, as it comes with 30W fast charging support compared to 18W support on the Redmi Note 9 Pro Indian variant.

To recall, Redmi Note 9 Pro Indian Variant goes by the codename ‘curtana‘, but it is called Redmi Note 9S in the Global markets. Redmi Note 9 Pro Max Indian variant has codename ‘excalibur‘ while the Redmi Note 9 Pro Global which is launched in Indonesia also goes by codename ‘joyeuse‘. All these devices share similar specifications with minor differences in the Camera and Charging department as mentioned above.

Xiaomi devices like Mi 10, Redmi K20 Pro, Redmi K20, Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 8 Pro and POCO X2 have already received MIUI 12 Stable update in India, and we can expect Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7S, Redmi Note 9 Pro to receive the update in coming weeks. PUBG Mobile will soon introduce Video Review Station to combat hackers

PUBG Mobile developers have announced that they will be adding a new feature to combat hackers and cheaters that have infiltrated the game. According to a post on Reddit, the developers will be introducing The Video Review Station. Unlike most anti-cheat systems, which rely on the developers to find and identify cheaters, the new system will add the PUBG Mobile community in the mix. The developers notes that the system is quite similar to the one used by other competitive games like League of Legends and Counter Strike: Global

How this will work is that when a player is reported for suspicious activity in a game, a battle replay video is generated from the suspicious player’s perspective. This video will then be distributed randomly to multiple player investigators who will then analyze the video. If a majority of the investigators confirm that the video contains a violation, it will be sent to the official PUBG Mobile team for review, who will then proceed to take necessary action.

PUBG Mobile to combat hackers by using Video Review Station

The exact launch date for The Video Review Station is not yet known but the developers note that it is currently being tested and is scheduled for release in early September. Further details about the system will be revealed at a later date. Hopefully, we will then know how player investigators will be selected.

The Video Review Station will be the latest in a long line of anti-cheat measures the developers have employed to ensure fair play. A few days ago, the developers announced that they had banned over 2 million accounts for using hacks and cheats over the course of a week. According to the company, 2,273,152 accounts were banned from August 20 to August 27. This also included 1,424,854 devices which were permanently suspended from accessing the game.

From August 20th to August 27th, 2,273,152 accounts and 1,424,854 devices have been permanently suspended from accessing our game, out of which these are the reasons: 12%: Speed Cheats 22%: Other 27%: Auto-Aim Cheats 32%: X-Ray Vision pic.twitter.com/0U7JFeSxtF

These steps come a few days before PUBG Mobile rolls out its v1.0 update. The update will be one of the biggest yet for the game and will not only introduce better graphics, but will also feature an overhauled UI and lobby. It will also come with a new version of Erangel that will feature new layouts and additions. You can read more about that here.

Redmi K30 5G and Xiaomi Mi Band 5, Mi Watch Revolve Tipped to Launch in India Soon

Xiaomi, it seems, has major plans for the Indian market if we are to believe a couple of leaks from popular technology leakster Ishan Agarwal. According to him, the Chinese smartphone major – and India’s number 1 smartphone brand will launch several new products in the months to come. Ishan, along with our friends at Pricebaba, has revealed that the company will launch the Redmi K30 5G in India very soon. In a separate leak with 91Mobiles, Ishan revealed two other products from the wearables category that he believes will come to the Indian market in the not too distant feature. These products include the Mi Watch Revolve, and the Mi Band 5.

Let us now take a closer look at these products.

Redmi K30 5G India launch soon?

If you have been tracking the smartphone space, you might be aware that the Redmi K30 and the Redmi K30 5G have been around in China for quite some time now. In fact, both these handsets were launched in China in December 2019. The Redmi K30 eventually made it to India in the form of the POCO X2. The Redmi K30 5G, it seems, will come to India branded as a Redmi device and will be sold in two color options – Frost White, and Mist Purple. In India, the Redmi K30 5G is likely to be offered in the following storage/RAM options: 6GB + 64GB, 6GB +128GB, and 8GB + 128GB. In China, the phone also comes in a pricier 8GB + 256GB variant, which might skip the Indian market – at least initially.

Mi Watch Revolve, Mi Band 5 India launch details

The Mi Watch Revolve is marketed as the Mi Watch Color in the Chinese market. When launched, the Revolve will become Xiaomi’s first-ever smartwatch to launch in India. This might come across as a bit strange since almost all other Xiaomi competitors have launched their own smartwatches in India. The second wearable product in the pipeline for India is the Mi Band 5 – which will replace the Mi Band 4. The Mi Band 5, if you recall, was launched in the Chinese market in June 2020.

If the Mi Watch Revolve does indeed turn out to be the Mi Watch Color, the spec sheet is likely to include a circular dial and an AMOLED display that measures 1.39-inch across with a resolution of 454×454 pixels. As expected of any self-respecting smartwatch, the Mi Watch Revolve comes loaded with features like a heart-rate monitor, sleep tracker, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC. The Mi Watch Revolve also gets a 420mAh battery that can go up to 14 days on a single charge. In India, the Mi Watch Revolve is likely to be offered in Chrome Silver and Midnight Black color options. As for the pricing, the Mi Watch Revolve could be priced somewhere around the Rs 6,000 mark. The China price of the same device is RMB 599 (approx Rs 6,400). Note that Ishan, at this point in time, is yet to reveal a possible launch date for the device.

As for the Mi Band 5, this product is an upgrade over last year’s Mi Band 4 model and features a 1.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen display. This is slightly larger than the display used on the Mi Band 4. The refreshed Mi Band 5 can last up to 14 days on a single charge and supports functions like heart rate monitoring and sleep tracking. It offers multiple sports modes and will also feature support for NFC. For women, Mi Band 5 also comes with a mode that can be used to track their overall health and, in particular, their menstrual cycle. All the other major features that were supported on the previous generation Mi Band devices all make it to the Mi Band 5. Another major change with the Mi Band 5 is the fact that it supports a new plug-inc charging mechanism instead of a standard USB charger.

Additionally, the Mi Band 5 is also water-resistant for depths of up to 50m. In China, the Mi Band 5 has a starting price of RMB 189, which translates to around es 2000. We can, therefore, expect the Mi Band 5 to be priced under the Rs 2000 mark in India when launched.

Redmi K30 5G: Specifications

The Redmi K30 5G comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor with 5G support using the X52 modem. This SoC houses the Adreno 620 GPU for graphics. The phone also gets a large 6.67-inch, 20:9 IPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution and support for 120Hz refresh rate. The display also features a dual punch-hole cutout for the front-facing cameras that include a 20MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor.

The rear camera setup on the Redmi K30 5G includes a 64MP primary camera (IMX686 sensor) with f/1.89 aperture, a secondary 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth camera.

The Redmi K30 5G features a large 4,500mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging. The phone also boasts of multiple connectivity options that range from 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi to Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, a 3.5mm jack, NFC, Infrared sensor and A-GPS.

In China, the multiple variants of the Redmi K30 and their pricing are as follows

  • 6GB + 64GB – RMB 1,999 – Rs 21,300
  • GB + 128GB – RMB 2,299 – Rs 24,500
  • 8GB + 128GB – RMB 2,599 – Rs 27,700
  • 8GB + 256GB -RMB 2,899 – Rs 30,900

As outlined earlier, the India market is likely to see three variants of the Redmi K30 5G, at least initially. Sony is reportedly in the works to launch a new smartphone, dubbed the Sony Xperia 5 II. Possible Sony Xperia 5 II visits Geekbench; key specifications revealed

Sony Xperia 5 II Geekbench

As seen in the Geekbench database website image, the possible Sony Xperia 5 II (with the model number Sony SO-52A) has managed to pull off 909 in the single-core test and 3,323 in the multi-core test. Furthermore, the device will run the latest Android 10 OS out of the box. Under the hood, the Sony Xperia 5 II (if at all it is the device) will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, which will be paired with 8GB of RAM. We can, however, expect the device to come in more RAM variants as well. Other than what we mentioned, the Geekbench listing does not reveal anything else about the alleged Sony Xperia 5 II.
