Top 5 Smartphones Launching in India in September 2020: Realme 7, OPPO F17 Series and More

The month of August 2020 has been quite a busy one for Indian smartphone and technology enthusiasts. We saw the launch of several new devices this month from a wide variety of manufacturers. Among the new smartphones launched in the country in this month include the Galaxy Note20 series and the Galaxy Tab S7 series from Samsung, the Redmi 9 and Redmi 9 Prime from Xiaomi, the Realme C12 and Realme C15 from, well, Realme and the ASUS ROG Phone 3. Motorola also jumped onto the launch bandwagon with its new Motorola G9. And if we are to go by ongoing leaks and rumors, the month of September might turn out to be just as busy. In this article, we take a look at five smartphones that will almost certainly be launched in India within the next 35 days.

Realme 7 series (Realme 7 and Realme 7 Pro)

Among the first of the handsets to land in India early next month include two of the most awaited devices from Realme. We are, of course, talking about the Realme 7 and Realme 7 Pro. Both these handsets will be officially launched in India on September 3. Realme India has already set out invites for the online launch event, which will be live-streamed at 12:30 p.m on September 3. As you might have already guessed by now, the Realme 7 series will be positioned as the successors to the existing Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro devices currently sold in India.

While Realme has managed to remain tightlipped over the specifications of the phone, the company did confirm that these devices will feature 65W fast charging support. Recent leaks, however, have indicated that the Realme 7 Pro – the more expensive of the two devices – will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset and likely have two configurations – 6GB+128GB, 8GB and 128GB. The Realme 7 Pro is also rumored to get a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display. There will be a single punch-hole for the selfie camera.

The Realme 7 Pro is also rumored to feature a quad-camera setup at the rear with a 64MP primary camera using the Sony IMX682 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and twin 2MP sensors for black and white photos and macro shots. The front-facing camera is likely to feature a 32MP sensor. Other specs include a 4,500mAh battery and dual stereo speakers. The specifications of the Realme 7 continues to remain a mystery as of now.

OPPO F17 series

OPPO is another smartphone that has been on a launch spree of late, and the trend is likely to continue in September as well. Among the most awaited launches from the company this year is the brand new OPPO F17 series devices. We are aware of the fact that OPPO will launch the OPPO F17 and the F17 Pro in India as successors to the OPPO F15 series. Very little is known about the specifications of both these handsets as of now. However, OPPO has already started teasing the OPPO F17 series on their website and social media channels from where we can gauge some of the features that these handsets would sport.

From the images, we know that the F17 Pro will feature a quad-camera setup at the rear and that it will be housed within a square encasement. OPPO has already revealed that the F17 Pro – at 7.48MM – will also be among the slimmest devices from the company. The phone also features dual selfie cameras, thereby ending up with a total of 6 cameras on a single device. The details of the rear camera setup are yet to be revealed. There have been rumors about the possibility of the front camera array using a 16MP +2MP setup.

OPPO has also revealed that the F17 Pro will come with a 6.43-inch SuperAMOLED display. The phone also supports VOOC 4.0 charging, and the charging speed tops out at 30W. At launch, we expect the OPPO F17 series to be priced around the Rs 25,000 mark.

Anyway, more details of the OPPO F17 and the OPPO F17 Pro should be out by September 2 – the launch date of the device.

Samsung Galaxy M51

Samsung has been doing quite well in India thanks to its revamped lineup of M-series handsets of late. Like other brands, Samsung has also had a busy 2020 with several launches recently. The company is expected to renew its focus on the M-series with the launch of a new M-series handset next month. This new handset has been rumored for a long time now and is known as the Samsung Galaxy M51. As evident from its naming scheme, this phone will be positioned above the company’s existing M-series portfolio that includes the Galaxy M21 and the just-launched Samsung Galaxy M31s

Leaked specifications of the Samsung Galaxy M31s indicate that the Galaxy M51 will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chipset. The device will also feature a centrally-placed punch hole at the front. While details of the camera remain hidden, we know that the phone will feature up to 8GB of RAM and that it will run Android 10 out of the box. Unlike Realme and OPPO that have already announced the launch date for their devices, the launch date of the Samsung Galaxy M51 is yet to be announced. It is almost certain, however, that this phone is coming to India in September.

Infinix Note 7, Note 7 Lite

Transsion Holdings-owned Infinix is another brand that has major plans for September. The company is expected to launch two new devices next month from its Note series. The new devices are the Infinix Note 7 and Note 7 Lite. Let’s now take a look at the specifications of both these handsets.

Both these handsets feature LCD panels with HD+ resolution. The display on the Note 7 – at 6.95- inches is larger than the one on the Note 7 Lite (6.6-inches). The Infinix Note 7’s display also boasts of up to 580 nits of brightness. While the Note 7 comes powered by the MediaTek Helio G70 SoC with 6GB of RAM, the Infnix Note 7 Lite uses the MediaTek Helio P22 processor with 4GB of RAM. Both the handsets offer 128GB of internal storage and also get a microSD card slot for memory expansion. Both the phones also feature a massive 5,000mAh battery with the Note 7 supporting 18W fast charging. The Lite variant only supports 10W charging. The large battery ensures excellent battery life. On the software front, both the handsets run Android 10 beneath XOS 6.0 – Infinix’s custom skin. The camera setup on the Infinix Note 7 includes a 16MP front-facing camera and a triple camera array at the rear with a 48MP primary camera and twin 2MP sensors for macro and depth sensing. The Note 7 Lite gets an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

Anyway, more details of the Infnix Note 7 series should be out in the next few days.
