Gionee, once a promising smartphone brand that had a big focus on India, is no longer a major player in the Indian smartphone segment. The company has made way for competitors like Xiaomi, OPPO, Realme, and Vivo to dominate this space in India. Gionee, however, continues to launch new products occasionally in a bid to capture some share of the massive Indian smartphone space. The latest product that Gionee plans to launch in India is called the Gionee Max, and the company has already posted teasers and details of the device on its website, social media channels, and Flipkart, where the handset shall be exclusively sold. The company has also revealed most of the specifications of the product as well – including its pricing.

Gionee Max specifications, key features
The Gionee Max seems to be an entry-level handset that comes powered by a basic, entry-level chipset. Gionee is yet to reveal the actual processor they have used on this device and only maintains that it is a 1.6GHz octa-core processor. The phone comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and by the looks of it, it is offered in this single variant. You do get the option to expand the storage further using MicroSD cards. As expected, the Gionee Max is a dual SIM handset with support for 4G VoLTE networks.
The display used on the Gionee Max is an LCD panel that measures 6.1-inches across and boasts of HD+ resolution. The phone comes with a dual-camera setup at the rear with the primary camera using a 13MP sensor. The resolution of the secondary camera has not been revealed. At the front, the phone gets a 5MP sensor for the front-facing camera. The phone uses this front camera for the face unlock feature. Note that it does not support a fingerprint scanner as a biometric lock/unlock mechanism.
The Gionee Max also features a massive 5,000mAH battery with no support for fast charging (which is not to be expected on a budget smartphone priced below Rs 7000). The phone runs Android 10 at launch.
Gionee Max price in India, launch date
Gionee has confirmed that the Gionee Max will go on sale starting today, August 31, 2020. The company has revealed that it will be sold for Rs 5,999 in India. The phone comes in three color variants in India – Black, Red, and Royal Blue.
