The Indian smartphone market has seen the launch of 5 budget devices in the last 48 hours. HMD Global and OPPO launched Nokia 5.3 and OPPO A53 in India on 25th August and yesterday Vivo launched Vivo Y20 and Y20i in the country. Vivo Y20, OPPO A53, and Nokia 5.3 have similar specifications and are priced closely. In this post, let us compare these three devices and see which one comes out as a winner.

Vivo Y20 is priced at Rs. 12,990 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. Nokia 5.3 is priced at Rs 13,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option, while the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant costs Rs 15,499. OPPO A53 costs Rs 12,990 for 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, while the higher storage variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs 15,490.

Coming to the design, all three phones feature a modern bezel-less display. Vivo Y20 and Nokia 5.3 feature a waterdrop notch while the OPPO A53 has a trendy punch-hole notch on the left side of the display. Vivo Y20 and OPPO A53 have a rectangular camera module on the top left side, while the Nokia 5.3 has a circular camera module. Talking about the color variants, Vivo Y20 comes in Obsidian Black and Dawn White colors, Nokia 5.3 comes in Cyan, Sand, and Charcoal colors, while the OPPO A53 comes in Black, Blue, and Fairy White colors.

In terms of display, all three devices have a modern bezel-less display. Vivo Y20 features a 6.51-inch HD+ panel, Nokia 5.3 has a 6.5-inch HD+ display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, while the OPPO A53 packs a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. In terms of display, OPPO A53 has a clear advantage over the other two devices as the display on the OPPO A53 has a trendy punch-hole display and comes with a 90Hz refresh rate.

Coming to the performance, Vivo Y20 and OPPO A53 pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 while Nokia 5.3 packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 665, both these processors are built on 11nm process. OPPO A53 has LPDDR4X RAM, while the RAM type on the Nokia 5.3 and Vivo Y20 is not mentioned anywhere. All three devices come with emmc5.1 storage. It’s difficult to pick a clear winner out of three in terms of the performance, but OPPO A53 has an advantage in terms of RAM type.

Vivo Y20 packs a triple rear camera setup which includes 13MP primary shooter with f/1.8 aperture, a 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro with f/2.4 aperture. OPPO A53 packs a triple-rear camera setup with a 13MP primary sensor, a 2MP Marco sensor, another 2MP depth sensor, and a LED flash, while the Nokia 5.3 packs a quad-rear camera setup with a 13MP primary sensor, a 5MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP Marco sensor, another 2MP depth sensor, and a LED flash.  All three devices have 13MP primary lens but you get a more versatile camera setup on Nokia 5.3 as it packs an ultra-wide-angle lens as well.

Coming to the selfie shooter, Vivo Y20 and Nokia 5.3 has an 8MP sensor, while OPPO A53 packs a higher resolution 16MP shooter. In terms of cameras, Nokia 5.3 turns out as a winner but for the selfie enthusiasts, OPPO A53 looks better.

Vivo Y20 and OPPO A53 pack a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support, while the Nokia 5.3 packs a 4000mAh battery with 10W charging. Nokia 5.3 and OPPO A53 come with a Type-C charging port while the Vivo Y20 features a dated Micro-USB port. In this aspect, OPPO A53 clearly seems to have an advantage over the other two devices as the Vivo Y20 comes with a dated Micro-USB port and Nokia 5.3 lacks fast charging.

There is no clear winner amongst the three devices, and in the end, it comes to what matters the most to you as a consumer. Nokia 5.3 has a more versatile camera setup but packs a smaller battery (compared to the other two devices) without fast charging support. OPPO A53 has a better selfie shooter and has a trendy design with a 90Hz display but lacks an ultra-wide-angle lens. Vivo Y20 also lacks an ultra-wide-angle lens and has a micro-USB port.
