Redmi 9 Prime is also priced at Rs 9,999 but you get 4GB RAM and 64GB storage at this price, while the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant will cost you Rs 11,999. Redmi Note 9 comes in three different variants, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at Rs 11,999, 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is priced at INR 13,999, and the top variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs 14,999.

Redmi 9 and Redmi 9 Prime both have a 6.53-inch panel with a mini drop with HD+ and FHD+ display respectively but the Redmi Note 9 also comes with a 6.53-inch panel but with FHD+ resolution and has a trendy punch-hole notch on the left side of the display. The punch-hole-notch gives Redmi Note 9 a more bezel-less look as compared to the other two devices.

All three devices feature a polycarbonate back panel, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor can be found on the rear panel of these devices. Redmi 9 packs a 2.3GHz Octa-core MediaTek Helio G35, coupled with PowerVR8320 GPU. The Redmi 9 Prime packs a 2.0GHz Octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 coupled with Mali G52 GPU clocked at 950MHz, while the Redmi Note 9 sports a 2.0GHz Octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 coupled with Mali G52GPU clocked at 1000MHz. All three devices come with faster LPDDR4X RAM but feature eMMC 5.1 storage, and come with a dedicated micro-SD card slot. All three devices run Android 10 based MIUI, however Redmi 9 comes with MIUI 12 out of the box, while the other two devices should receive MIUI 12 update shortly.

Redmi Note 9 packs a 48MP Samsung sensor with f/1.79 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with 118.2˚ field-of-view and f/2.2 aperture, 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The depth sensor is present on all three devices while Redmi 9 Prime features a higher resolution Macro sensor compared to that on Redmi Note 9.

Coming to the selfies, you will find a 5MP shooter on the Redmi 9, an 8MP shooter on Redmi 9 Prime, while the Redmi Note 9 gets a 13MP selfie shooter.

Redmi 9 comes with a dated Micro-USB port while the Redmi 9 Prime and Redmi Note 9 come with reversible Type-C port for charging. Redmi Note 9 also supports 9W reverse charging so you also have an option to charge other devices with Redmi Note 9.

All the three smartphones are good value for money offerings in their segments, however Redmi 9 Prime seems like a much better deal compared to Redmi 9 for Rs 1000 more as Redmi 9 Prime offers a higher resolution display, Type-C port with fast charging and quad-rear camera setup compared to Redmi 9, so if you’re not really tight on budget, Redmi 9 Prime should be your choice over Redmi 9. If you can stretch the budget by another couple of thousands, Redmi Note 9 is a no brainer.
