Xiaomi recently announced the Redmi K40, K40 Pro, and K40 Pro+ smartphones in China. And, the fact that the base Redmi K40 model will be making a global debut under POCO branding is no secret. This was revealed earlier through the phone’s listing on Infocomm Media Development Authority listing (IMDA).
Well, we now have yet another confirmation that the Redmi K40 will make its global debut, including India, under the POCO branding. The phone could be called the POCO F3 for the global markets. The device has now gained FCC certification and was even spotted at India IMEI Database with POCO branding. Let’s check out more details ahead:
Redmi K40 to Launch in Global Markets as POCO F3
The handset that has been certified by FCC carries model number as the M2012K11AG under the POCO branding. The device will have a 5G support as mentioned in the FCC documents. If we recall the earlier details, the same handset was certified with a model number as the M2012K11AC, which later debuted as the Redmi K40 in China.
As far as the details via the IMEI database go, the smartphone is mentioned under the POCO branding with same M2012K11AG model number. Additionally, the IMEI certification even confirms that the model M2012K11AG will be making its debut as POCO F3 in the global market. The same device in the past has even gained the required Indonesia Telecom, Indonesia’s TKDN, EEC, and TUV Rheinland certification.
Furtheremore, we are aware of the fact in the past Redmi devices have made their global debut under POCO branding. The POCO F2 Pro was rebranded as the Redmi K30 Pro in the international market, while the Redmi K30 debuted as the POCO X2 in selected markets, including India. So, it’s fairly certain from the certification listing that this time the Redmi K40 will make its debut as POCO F3.
To recap of the specs of the Redmi K40, it features a 6.67-inch AMOLED E4 TrueTone display with a 120Hz refresh rate display. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 870 SoC, which is aided by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There are other models as well which come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage.
In terms of imaging, the Redmi K40 sports a triple camera setup that consists of a primary 48MP camera, while the other two sensors are 8MP and 5MP respectively. For selfies and video-calling, the device features a 20MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture. The Redmi K40 runs Android 11 out of the box. The whole package is fueled by a 4520mAh battery that has 33W fast-charging support.
