Netflix Could be Making its Own Gaming Service Like Apple Arcade: Report

Netflix the OTT platform is popular across the globe for its wide range of content offering and impressive original TV series. The OTT has expanded across the globe and now it seems that the company is looking forward to expanding in the gaming industry. A report from Gamespot suggests that the online video streaming platform has started recruiting executives who will help in expanding the gaming efforts. Let’s have a closer look at the latest news.

Netflix to Enter Gaming Industry

According to the report, Netflix is searching for an executive who will take the lead in gaming initiatives. It seems that the company is planning to become a big player in the gaming industry and give good competition to Apple Arcade by offering similar services. Further, the report also suggests that Netflix has decided not to include any ads in its gaming service, just like its video streaming service.

Netflix told Gamespot that the company is focusing more on interactive entertainment. It’s planning to create games based on popular series, so we can expect games based on series like Money Heist, Dark, Breaking Bad, Narcos, and more. Do note that the company has not confirmed that Netflix will develop the game itself or get it done from a game publisher

“Our members value the variety and quality of our content. It’s why we’ve continually expanded our offering–from series to documentaries, film, local language originals and reality TV. Members also enjoy engaging more directly with stories they love–through interactive shows like Bandersnatch and You v. Wild, or games based on Stranger Things, La Casa de Papel and To All the Boys. So we’re excited to do more with interactive entertainment,” Gamespot quoted Netflix.

This is not the first time the company has intended to enter the gaming industry. Back in E3 2019, Netflix hosted a panel to discuss the same and even launched a game based on Stranger Things. It would be very interesting to see when the company is going to launch its Netflix original games because the company has some interesting series to build games.
