Facebook (Oops, Meta’s) First Smart Watch Has Leaked, and There’s a Camera on it For Video Calls

Facebook was officially renamed as Meta last night at Connect 2021 event. The company’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta will aim to bring together the company’s apps and technologies under one new company brand. According to the company, Meta’s focus will be to bring the metaverse to life and help people connect, find communities and grow businesses. A few hours after the announcement was made, a fresh detail on the company’s new product was leaked. Meta’s first smartwatch has leaked and the wearable is said to take on the Apple Watch and there’s a camera on the watch for video calls. Let’s take a look at more details of the upcoming wearable from Meta.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Meta is gearing up to launch a smartwatch that consists of a front-facing camera and rounded screen. The picture of the watch was reportedly found in one of Meta’s iPhone apps. The picture of the smartwatch reveals rounded corners of the watch with uniform bezel on all sides along with a dew-drop notch for the camera – but, on the bottom of the screen. There is a button on the right side – which might be for navigation. 

The image was spotted on Meta’s app – an app for controlling the new smart glasses – Ray-Ban Stories. Further, the report confirms the watch will sport an interchangeable strap as well. Since the watch also features, the wearable is likely to get the ability to support video calling – which would definitely make the watch stand out from the crowd and competition. The previous report suggests the first smartwatch from the brand will launch in 2022.

Previous leaks also suggest the company will launch a smartwatch with two cameras. The company is saif robe working on three generations of watches. The company is also working with some of the top US wireless carriers for LTE connectivity support. The watch will come in white, black, and gold. It is likely to launch around the $400 (roughly Rs 30,000) price point.
